I remember walking out of the stadium, and they had Jackie's press conference up on the Jumbotron. First thing he does is call the refs out and everyone starts ringing cowbells. I never ever believe in referee conspiracy theories, but that night I'm pretty sure the MWC told their officials to make damn sure BYU wins if possible. That was bad. We lost 41-38, and should've won by at least 2 tds.

How many wins does Southern Miss have versus the SEC? Looks like quite a few in this thread.

1995 loss to the Gators in Athens...usually in Jacksonville, Fl, but the Gator Bowl was under construction.

Gators by "half a hundred". It don't get much worse than that.

1. Miami 1988

2. Florida 1993

Yes,those were outstanding teams. BUT, losing at home 44-3 and 58-3 is humiliating.(Heck, losing anywhere by those scores. )

3. Colorado State 1992

2012: take your pick of Texas A&M, UGA or Bama. Or Arkansas.

We competed against LSU.

The season was humiliating.
I was numb.
Stayed at games until clock ran out.

Plenty of leg room.

Southern Mississippi beat Alabama in 1990. I was a student at the time and thought it was damn funny. Southern Miss beat Auburn a few weeks later.

That was my first game as a freshman at Bama. It sucked.

I felt a lot better when they beat AU. FWIW, they also lost to UGA by 1 and MSU by 3. They might have been middle of the pack in the SEC that season. Favre was that good.

From what some say, both coaches were great friends and had a gentleman's agreement to avoid each other because the two teams were both so beat up afterwards it was counterproductive to both.

7-6-1 was the overall record in Bryant's favor. Bryant coached against Vaught 7 times from 1958 to 1970 during the time when both were at Ole Miss and Alabama.

Here is great article on this and a good read.

2000 Colorado was MUCH worse. They were winless (0-4) coming into the game and A&M hadn't lost at home since November of 1996.

2014 Ole Miss was pretty bad too. It was our first night game against a major SEC opponent, Ole Miss was #3 and undefeated, we were #14 with one loss and looking to get back in the SEC West title race. Set an attendance record that still stands and will never be broken.

If anything, Sumlin, Kenny Trill and our inept offense humiliated us. Costly turnovers and before you know we were down 21-0 at halftime. The final score was deceiving as I feel like it was a much worse arse kicking then 35-20. We tacked on a few late TD's to make the score somewhat respectable. That game made me not want to hear hotty totty ever in life again. Straight up embarrassment.

But yes, thanks to an onside kick AU had the ball for almost the entire quarter.

Not rubbing it in but it was actually more than a quarter.

My wife and I were at the State - BYU game in 2001. Even she was booing.

I defend the refs except in that one game. They called. One holding penalty on BYU and their OL were mugging our guys the whole night. Even the ESPN announcers talked it about during the game because the booing was so incessant. In fact , before the most recent expansion, that was the loudest I had heard Scott Field and it was all boos.
(No cowbells really) just old fashion booing.
Absolutely horrible. No doubt that was a payoff game to keep BYU undefeated.

I don't know, pick three games from Curley Hallman's tenure. Ouch. We lost 58-3 in Tiger Stadium to Florida with him as coach.
