I know he loves SMU and Dallas and clearly has an easier path to the playoffs, but would/will he take an SEC job eventually?

Figured he would have taken the Arkansas job this past offseason but he signed an extension

Would have been a good hire for Ole Miss in all honesty

I don’t think anyone wants the Arkansas job.

If he wanted it bad enough, he would leave SMU.

But he was thinking job security and he has it better in Dallas.

Highly doubtful.
He has a good job in Dallas.
He's already told his home state team Arky NO.

SMU is a destination job now in this era.

SMU can pay him more than every SEC team. Every single one.

I would say Ole Miss next season but he probably won’t go from one stepping stone job to another.

If he’s still there when the acc signs its new media deal he’ll be in a way better spot than arky(and a lot of other places). Those guys are 100% booster funded right now. They’ll be throwing a lot more money to their roster in about four years(long time in coach years)

Give it 3 years and LSU will buy out Lane's contract, sell their soul's for another $100 Million and buy Lashlee for their next HC.

No, he loves SMU and Dallas and clearly has an easier path to the playoffs. He makes good money and has great NIL backing. Rhett’s right where he needs to be and he knows it.

He has more money for NIL at SMU than he would with probably 12-14 of the 16 SEC schools.

SMU has (allegedly) the 3rd highest NIL in the ACC. Would Rhett still look like a good coach if he was mid/lower tier in conference NIL? Because that’s the type of job he’d get in the SEC.

But they won’t, and never will. He will leave soon, because SMU will rarely be respected in the worst conference in CFB. He wants to win the big one, and that won’t happen at SMU.

If it happened at Indiana, it can happen anywhere ANYWHERE in the power 4
