Will Herman be Sumlin 2.0 or will he actually see success?

Maybe Herman's recruiting success will actually equate to success on the field.

I think Herman is a lot better of an offensive mind for starters. Herman is also a much better recruiter.

Still a tad butthurt LSU might have gotten Herman if alleva hadn't been such a titty baby in negotiations. To think LSU could have Cannizzaro, Herman, and Wade leading our big 3 makes me die a little inside

Herman will actually succeed. Although I think Sumlin would be more succesful in the Big 12 too.

Herman is actually at a good football program (unlike Sumlin) so he will have the tools to succeed.

56-3

But literally nobody gives a frick about Arkansas.

Try winning even a conference championship this millennium... that would be better than being undefeated against an irrelevant program.

Hawgs are dick-riding on a Texas team again.

Shameful, and it dishonors your past.

I guess you young ones have been out of the SWC so long you have no frame of reference.

Zero Longhorn dick-riding in OP. It was simply a question about gauging Tom Herman's future. Stop being so sensitive.

I don't know. It seems like Texas may have issues larger than the coach. I thought Strong would have done well there, and was surprised how quickly Mack cratered after losing to Alabama.

Are the boosters too heavily involved?

All I know is that if Herman does not pull it off, they are in danger of drifting into Notre Dame as a team that people rank in the preseason off of name alone and then underperform.

it seems you prefer coaches with little experience.

wait until these guys, esp cannizzro and herman, have some years under their belt. if cannizzaro comes close to PM's record, he'll be lucky.

They're already notre dame status. Herman is their last hope at liberating them.

Although Charlie Strong didn't win at Texas, he damn sure did a good job recruiting good players. Herman has way more talent to work with than Strong did when he got there.

That's not an accurate statement.

Go back and look at Mack's last 5 classes (the talent Charlie inherited). They average out considerably higher than Charlie's classes that Herman is taking over. Especially when you take into account how many of Charlie's recruits actually QUALIFIED. He was notorious for signing guys to inflate his class rankings who never set foot on campus due to grades.

Now, it's a fact that Charlie ran off a lot of that talent he inherited from Mack, but that's on him. To cover his arse when the losses poured in Charlie and Co. created the narrative that he HAD to do that, when really it was an ineffective, inefficient management style.

Don't buy the Charlie pity party about "muh Mack left me no talent". Total bullshite spouted by a loser. Charlie lost because he's fricking retarded. Charlie can barely speak coherent English. It's that bad.

Herman will do much better just on the basis that he's not a complete fool.

Strong walked into a situation with plenty of talent from Mack. Herman has talent too, but also just signed the worst class in school history.

Three seasons in a row being sub .500, if they win 7+ games the longhorn fans will be insufferable about being "back". Even though they have won 1 NC in 40+ years and 2 conference championships since the big 12 formed.
