The only contributions they ever made was BWA for share holder meeting capacity.

Well, they sell a shite ton of Tyson chicken, so it's almost like they help fund us.

They love their bike trails.

Because they aren't true Arkansans and all they care about is bike trails.

Do you really think shareholders from around the world want Walmart to spend resources on Arkansas athletics? Is this a serious question? What does the company gain from that?

We(MU) get all the Wal-Mart $$$. Mrs. Audrey’s 100th was just this past Thursday and there was a gigantic B-day party for her in Columbia and plastered all over the big board at Faurot all weekend.
Sam & Bud are originally from Boone County, Kroenke still has an estate here and the Laurie’s who financed Mizzou Arena have an estate in Columbia as well. Corporate is in Bentonville.
Audrey J. Walton soccer stadium in Columbia
Audrey J. Walton Football Stadium and Facilities @ Central Missouri St.(CMSU) Warrensburg, Mo.

Missouri gets Walton money just like Arkansas does, and it ain’t for athletics.
Bud Walton is responsible for our arena, though.
0-20 Missouri sucks.

quote:Yes that is why Columbia is growing way faster than Northwest Arkansas is right?! Also that is why yall have the same quality of facilities that we have right? Also when is the headquarters moving to Missouri? Please let us know so we can stop all the construction happening in Bentonville so this damn traffic can slow down!

One reason is that Wal Mart donates a tremendous amount of money to the University of Arkansas Medical Complex (that is first class by the way) down in LR. My sister had a rare surgery performed there many years ago that gave her 10 more good years of life when she was on her deathbed at the time.
So what is more important? Saving lives or supporting sports?
They also built the basketball arena and they certainly indirectly support Arkansas Athletics because a ton of folks (alumni and more) earn their paycheck from WM or because of it by being a vendor for the corporation or by operating a business that is supported by WM employees etc.

Yeah because shareholders of Walmart are going to notice Walmart spending $100m on athletics.
GTFO.

Walmart is all about cheap.

WM didn't pay for the basketball arena. The late James “Bud” Walton, Sam's brother, gave $15 million to help build the $35 million arena that bears his name. The major gift was given to the foundation in three annual $5 million installments in the early 1990s.

From Yahoo Sports - The driving force behind Arkansas' push for Calipari was reportedly John Tyson, the billionaire who is a longtime Arkansas donor. Calipari has previously posted on social media about his longtime friendship with Tyson.

Walmart does fund them as well as Tyson. A few folks around Springdale area say the Clinton’s also fund the University with Benghazi money. Make no mistake, Arkansas is loaded. If they want it or need it, they know who to call to go get it.
