I’ve read that exact same article in so many variations over the years, that I’m numb and a complete cynic to it all. From Afghanistan, to Iraq, to Somalia, to the Congo, to Uganda, to Rwanda, to Bosnia and so forth and so on.
This is what the U.N. was specifically created for, yet I’ve never seen that organization do a fricking thing of consequence in the 5 decades I’ve been on this planet, NEVER.
The U.N. has a budget of 3+ billion a year, of which the American taxpayer is by far, the largest contributor at 22% of that annual budget. The vast majority of that budget is exclusively earmarked for…

How Donald J. Trump won the West.
Posted by Boomdaddy65201 on 4/30/25 at 9:09 am
As if President Trump’s first 100 days in office haven’t been a massive exercise in resolve and a commitment to a covenant with the American constituency that elected his administration.
As if he walked off the silver screen and proclaimed “I’m your Huckleberry” Donald J. Trump has become legend west of the Mississippi River as of this morning at a press conference featuring Kristi Noem and Ag. Secretary Brooke Rollins.
The Biden administration threatened to separate an American ranching family children from parents, family from land, and neighbors from neighbor. That family has been on that land longer than the U.S. Forest Service has been an agency and if you watch the presser this morning, their neighbors were armed and willing to go to the mat for them.

Department of Justice drops theft charges against South Dakota ranchers Charles and Heather Maude South Dakota ranchers Charles and Heather Maude had been accused of improperly using Forest Service land. The charges were dropped on Monday April 28th, 2025.
The U.S. Department of Justice has dropped the criminal charges against Caputa, South Dakota, ranchers Charles and Heather Maude, who had been accused of improperly using U.S. Forest Service land.
On June 20, 2024, a grand jury indicted the Maudes for theft of government property. The indictment alleged that they "did knowingly steal, purloin, and covert to their own use National Grasslands managed by the United States Department of Agriculture, approximately 50 acres." A letter U.S. Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., wrote to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack in July 2024 said the Maude family held permit agreements with the U.S. Forest Service for nearly 60 years , during which time the USFS "has repeatedly acknowledged the fence placement every single time the lease was renewed."
The Maudes were charged separately and each faced penalties of up to 10 years in federal prison and fines up to $250,000.
In a statement, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brook Rollins said the charges stemmed from "a fence line and planting dispute." A release from USDA said the Maudes were alerted by the U.S. Forest Service that fencing on their property blocked access to the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands and agreed to a survey of the property lines. After the survey was completed, the Maudes were indicted on the theft charges.
“The Maudes are not criminals. They have worked their land since the early 1900s and something that should have been a minor civil land dispute that was over and done with quickly turned into an overzealous criminal prosecution on a hardworking family that was close to losing their home, children, and livelihood. Not in this America, not under President Trump,” Rollins said.
National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, the Public Lands Council and South Dakota Cattlemen’s Association all applauded the move.
“No family farmer or rancher should have to go through what the Maude family did,” said NCBA President Buck Wehrbein, a Nebraska cattleman. “The targeted prosecution of the Maude family was way out of line for the U.S. Forest Service, and this was a clear example of government overreach that had direct, catastrophic impacts for a hardworking fifth-generation ranching family.”
“This case was an unfortunate example of the imbalance of power between family ranchers and a formidable federal government. Put simply, the Maude family was expected to bear the burden of an inefficient and unfair Forest Service process, and their story had a chilling effect on ranchers’ trust in federal land management agencies they interact with daily,” said Kaitlynn Glover, executive director of PLC and NCBA Natural Resources. “Both the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association and the Public Lands Council are pleased that our months-long campaign to find a good solution for Charles, Heather, and their kids has finally become a reality.”
Charles and Heather Maude endured a heart wrenching burden on their family caused by overzealous prosecution that could have led to a decade in federal prison,” said Warren Symens, SDCA President. “SDCA is thankful to Secretary Rollins for finally ending the drawn out prosecution of the Maude family and reeling in the rogue federal agents and the Department of Justice
The Maude family will visit Washington, D.C., on April 30 for an in-person press conference, where updates and actions being taken on the case will be shared.
“I have been working closely with Secretary Brooke Rollins behind the scenes to achieve this result and deliver fairness for the Maude family,” South Dakota Gov. Larry Rhoden said in a release. “I’ll be joining Secretary Rollins and the Maudes in Washington on Wednesday morning to celebrate this fantastic news!”

How will Liberals pay for their election promises? Expect taxes, taxes and more taxes
quote:
It’s obvious that the Liberal Party has pretty much all the same band members and playlist as it had before, so it’s not out of line to remind Canadians of some very controversial tax policies that have been considered by them during their time in power.
The first is a home equity tax. The target appears to be older Canadians who have paid off their homes and have equity. Last summer, there were a number of reports and videos floating around that various Liberal party members, including former prime minister Justin Trudeau, had met with a think tank called Generation Squeeze to discuss “generational fairness” issues, including the introduction of a home equity tax.
Generation Squeeze seems to think that one of the ways to enable younger Canadians to afford a home is to go after older people who have worked hard to pay off their homes.
Gen Squeeze believes that it’s time to protect real shelters, not tax shelters. It’s unfair to sustain a system in which the hard work Canadians do every day in their jobs is taxed more than the wealth homeowners gain from rising prices while they sleep and watch TV,” it once said on its website. “The first step is putting a price on housing inequity by adding a modest surtax on homes valued at more than $1 million. This surtax will apply only to the top 12 per cent of high-value homes.”
As I have explored before, a home equity tax is a ridiculous idea rooted in victimhood policy. Canadians already pay a long list of taxes on their homes, such as municipal property taxes and GST/HST on new builds, renovations and utilities
Prior to the suspension of the carbon tax, they also paid significant amounts of that tax on home heating. In addition, if the eventual disposition of their home or rental property does not qualify for the principal residence exemption, they will pay capital gains taxes to the extent the property has appreciated.
They are so fricked, oh well, elections have consequences :rotflmao:
