Is that the leftover carpet from before the Astrodome imploded?

McConaughey can’t contribute a few extra bucks to help grass grow in Austin?

Now this is what I read, maybe on here. But, the current carpet has a concrete base (I would think some kind of cushion under the carpet). So that's one thing to prevent going to grass. The other problem is that part of the campus is a rock bottom. They have more money than God so that can't be the hold up. I guess they just like the low maintenance
To me, it's a disadvantage for a team that plays on grass have trouble with this shite. But, players from these stadiums would have problems on real dirt with strange hops, lips on the edge of grass and dirt, etc.
But, it just might be geologically not feasible.

Austin has water restrictions. I think they can only water 1 day per week.

We don’t love it either. Shall we create the topic a hundredth time?

I was told we are installing grass. I hope that is true.

Schloss had an interview a month or so ago where he said they were putting new turf in for next season. Mentioned the road trip to Tennessee as an opportunity to see if/how they like their type of turf.

Soon enough they’ll drop $100m and it will look great.

the softball field opened in 1998 and is grass. disch falk opened in 1975 and turf was the hot new thing and there's a concrete base that Texas just doesn't have the appetite to deal with, so the turf just gets refreshed every 10-20 years or so.

Average of 35” rain per year and frequent drought conditions.

But yeah I wish it were real grass. FWIW I just came from watching game 1 and it looks a little better in person than it does on TV.

But it’s still turf
