and no....Arkansas isn't and will never be a rival.

I've never understood this mentality between these two fanbases. Sure, there isn't much history between Missouri and Arkansas. But they're border states, fight for the same recruits, and several of the games between you two since Missouri joined the SEC have been really good. Since Missouri doesn't have Kansas and Iowa State anymore, would you rather develop a new rivalry or just not have one?

Bama and Georgia play such a joke schedule that they are virtually assured a spot.

Cry about the schedule in week 2 all you want you cuckolded little bitch. When the chips fall at the end of the year, Alabama has played a top 10 schedule every year in the last decade and has 5 titles to show for it. This crying about Alabama being better and coming up with sad and ignorant excuses is exactly what I’d expect from a barner. It’s a pathetic coping mechanism. Alabama is good because we have the best coach and the best players. Of course we’re going to curb stomp our way to the playoffs every year. fricking do something about it. Hire a better coach and recruit better players. That’s how you make the playoffs. It isn’t rocket science. Clemson was an 8-4 team every year until they hired Dabo. Georgia still hasn’t won a title since 1980 and now they’re “assured a spot”

No. You are whining about teams being good through coaching and recruiting. Maybe this isn’t the sport for you. You support a sorry arse team that is okay with challenging once every 4 years. That’s on you Nancy. Auburn wasn’t shite before the playoffs either, please don’t act like this system has killed your chances at ever being consistently relevant. Sad motherfrickers

Bro, it's all about expectations. When they're too high, you get feelings like this. I've found it best to keep my expectations at the very fricking bottom for everything in life as much as possible.

I love the fact that Bama has been great the last few years. It's been enjoyable but this shite will not last forever. We'll have a losing season one day. I know some Bama fans who will probably jump out of a window when that happens. It's just not the way to go through life.

It's nice if your favorite team wins a NC but it is NOT life changing stuff. My life has not gotten better since 2009 because Bama won a NC. This shite is just entertainment. Hope you're really not as disappointed over a loss to Georgia as it sounds in original post.

Smile, Sunbeam.

This is a Class one melt. Someone buy this guy a beer he needs it. SCAR fans are on suicide watch after the Georgia game brought them back to reality.

It just seems forced to me. Rivalries are developed naturally.

We've lost so much of our identity and have been at a competitive disadvantage since the move. It's a terrible place to be in.

Just don't take it so seriously.

South Carolina is never going to be a consistent Playoff contender. We will win some. We will lose some.

It isn't a big deal.

"Why do we bother"... Well I can only speak for myself. I love waiting for the season to get here. When it does, we all spend time w/ family and friends (even some who like the other team). We cheer together, rag each other and simply enjoy the pageantry and traditions of the game. Many of us have played the sport, but it doesnt matter. I think my wife and daughter enjoy the game as much as I do. Its an excuse to check out for a few hours from the daily grind of life and simply celebrate something that in reality isnt that important. Im a Ga. fan and Lord knows they have broken my heart many times. The beauty of it is that when the game is over Im ok. There is always next week or next year. Its fun to talk over the game with friends or even strangers (the rant) . Its supposed to be fun, not war. I enjoy the winning more than the losing but as long as we are trotting a team out there I will be lighting the grill, icing down the beer and calling friends over for the game. Hell I even will let a Game Cock in on occasion.

Look, college football is different than it was 20 years ago. Obvious right?

What I'm driving at is this whole playoff system took all the charm out of it.

Realistically you can't make the playoff if you are NOT in a P5 conference (or are Notre Dame).

How was this different 20 years ago? What G5 school played for the national title in the last 20 years?

That's in-line with my point, though.

It isn't fun, it is war.

We have a system where universities hire analysts to break down film and analyze 8th graders because they MIGHT recruit them one day.

This isn't sane, this isn't a bunch of drunk alums singing the alma mater or "To Hell With Georgia."

And your own school has drunk the Bama Kool-Aid and is taking it way too seriously too.

But it works. However the whole exercise is f#%king stupid.

This system literally leads to things like the Baylor under Art Briles situation, the North Carolina tutoring situation (you really got on that one NCAA), Cam and his "ongoing investigation."

And schools just look the other way. Then there is the Florida freakshow where they apparently ignore MURDERS.

Why shouldn't I be bitter? Or think the system sucks arse?

Then fricking leave. I don't intend that in a condescending or trolling way.

If you're so embittered towards college athletics, that's fine, but why are you watching college football? Or posting on a college football board? Is it just to berate football fans?

There seems to be no purpose to this conversation. Everybody's been pretty clear about why they love the sport in spite of every argument you've brought up. It seems to me like you need to find another hobby and move on with your life.

i can see the other side to what you are saying. this all started when northern ill made the orange bowl. the p5 teams were pissed and rightfully so. that bowl has a huge payout and n ill doesn't even draw 10k per home game. it's completely unfair for a team to get that payout when they don't make the commitment to football that other schools do.

and it's not a matter of the haves and have nots. usf and ucf by all accounts should have killer programs. they are huge schools with lots of money and are in the best recruiting area in the county but both programs have been moribund at best.

contrast that with boise st who is small, poor and in the middle of nowhere. yet, they have been immanently more successful than those two fla schools.

Reasonable advice.

But remember in the years to come, you have to live with this nonsense.

And trust me, until the financial wheels get kicked out from under it by ESPN losing enough subscriber to 86' all these TV contracts, or CTE just outright killing it, the situation is only going to get more extreme.

Fellowship with friends and family is what I enjoy most about it. And the food, traditions like you said. It's an excuse to get together and have fun. Auburn losing stopped ruining my week when I was about 12. It doesn't affect me in any way, so why should I allow that to happen?

And, one day, if there is no longer college football, we'll find some other reason to get together and have fun. That's fine with me.
