Im laughing at the downvotes. Apparently people think they are above dark humour. It’s a joke.

Makes you wonder why they decided to write a famous tune about TN instead of their own home state.

What they should have done is something very original. Like wearing red and having a mascot like a Bulldog.
re: Auburn bros, srs question:

Gus isn’t going anywhere as long as he keeps going bowling every year and beating Saban every other.

Great coach, but also overrated. How his tenure at UsC ended, not so much the football part, but the ethical part of quitting on his team/staff. Plus no undefeated seasons as UF, and only one natty. And that one he was lucky to get a mulligan against a team that had already beaten him once that year.
re: Make an argument for watching

I have already been cuttin way back on spectator sports for years anyway. This latest episode, along with COVID, just makes it that much easier to basically eliminate a monumental waste of time and money from my life. It was coming to an end for me anyway. Thinking about how I used to waste entire weekends on this crap makes me sick and embarrassed at myself. It isn’t just me either. Milennials in general just care less about watching sports than Boomers and older generations do, for a variety of reasons. I think that’s a very healthy thing.

Seriously doubt it. Saban is a bigtime left-winger. The SJW stuff is right up his alley.

I’m still planning to watch on TV (for now), but I’ll never buy another ticket or piece of merchandise for as long as i live. I’ve already wasted enough money on that junk anyway. Why support people who hate you? You are a masochist if you do.

I dont really know what you mean by “abuse of power.” Anyway, Im not saying it could not happen, but then that wouldnt be a “communist” state if it did. It would be something else. Certainly that’s not what the people that invented communism had in mind. The state would have seized the plutocrat’s assets long ago. I think communism is a horrible system, I’m just saying that what is happening here is something different and trying to use Cold War-era thinking is holding people back.

Im not so so sure. Would a communist state have as many oligarch and plutocrat billionaires and corporations worth effectively trillions that have more power than the state and God combined? That kind of thing does not happen in a communist state. What we are heading for is actually Way worse than communism in my opinion.

Im fine with a lower standard of living and paying more for things, yes. Weve never been more technologically advanced or more materially wealthy but also never more fat, unhealthy, depressed, drug addicted, suicidal, or spiritually dead and miserable in general. Coincidence? Not everything is about money.

Is the only choice between being a neoliberal, corporate hellhole with nothing but strip malls, concrete, and billboards vs. starving to death?
People need to break out of the Cold War era thinking of the communism vs capitalism, outdated left/right economic paradigm.

Hopefully the season is cancelled and people can spend that time doing things that actually matter.
re: Legendary Tennessee football player, coach Johnny Majors dies

My grandfather and CJM were freshmen together at UT in 1953. Neyland’s final recruiting class. He called our house when he heard my grandfather died to offer his condolences. That was out of the blue. He did not have our home number, so he went out of his way to get it from someone else. I also wrote him a couple of different times just to talk about his memories since i do not have much in the way of artifacts from that time, and my grandfather died when i was very young. He called and talked with me for over an hour both times. He did not have to do that. He was always to kind to me. I never got caught up in all the Majors vs. Fulmer crap because both men were nothing but kind to me personally in my interactions with them.

Yeah that guy definitely doesn’t have an axe to grind against Phil at all...

Hopefully doing something that matters for a change. I’ve wasted too much time watching meaningless games.
re: Y'all educate me please -- UN, WHO, WTO ... why does the USA fund the majority of it all??

The US govt is basically the inventor and living embodiment of globalism. Just seems like a fact.
re: Bruce Pearl and a blueblood job?
Posted by NDonahue on 2/9/20 at 8:17 am
What Pearl has done is nothing short of amazing, but I try not to get into the cult of personality thing and thinking one man is bigger than the program. It’s easy to do with a guy like Pearl because he leans forward so much.

They are “Christian” values and words. I don’t know when/whom decided to hyphenate and tack on that first part.
