Alabama blowout, Auburn is a fraud

Last season Auburn played a weak arse OOC schedule, dominated, and got called a fraud.
This season Auburn has played the strongest schedule in the country, dominated, has the best resume in the country, the most Q1 wins in the country, the most efficient offense in the country, five of the top thirty or so rated players in the country, is undefeated on the road in conference play (always a knock on Bruce), and has done so with its best player clearly not 100%. Yet, they are still a "fraud".

TLDR - frick you.

We have the 2nd best 2pt offense in the country and 99% of them are taken in the paint. Obviously we go about it a lot differently than most teams do though.

Our 2pt defense is OK, not great.

Bama has to take care of the ball. If they limit turnovers I think they squeak by with a 5 to 7 point win. If they turn it over like they have been, they may be down 20 at the half. Auburn is good on both sides of the ball.

Bama fans, how do you feel about your depth behind Nelson and Omoruyi?

Freshmen Aiden Sherrell 6'11" has gotten a lot of minutes the last few games and had looked pretty good. Not a lot behind him at the 5 althougj Jarin Stevenson is a decent defensive player who can defend and rebound at the 4 or 5. Diabete is the x factor. When he plays well we're a much better team defensively and around the basket

As for Saturday's game, here are my thoughts and amateur analysis...

I can't shake the feeling that this Auburn team is simply a slightly better overall team that has a significantly higher margin of error than Alabama in a game like this.

The thing that scares me as an Alabama fan about this particular Auburn team is that they have zero weaknesses from an offensive, defensive, rebounding, transition game, and half court game standpoint. In other words, Auburn can beat Alabama in more ways than vice versa. This Auburn team is fully capable of running at Alabama's fast transition pace and they are even more comfortable and efficient slowing it down and playing a half court game offensively and grinding on Alabama defensively in a half court game.

Not only is Auburn strong in the post they have a handful of very good 3 pt shooters so it's impossible to key in or double team the post because you'll get beat by the 3. Even more concerning is Auburn's ability to lean on you defensively and create a lot of turnovers in the process which is the only glaring weakness Alabama struggles with at times offensively (turnovers). This Alabama team is much better and more consistent on defense than last year's team but will still struggle to score efficiently if we're off from the 3 pt line.

The atmosphere in Coleman will be loud and intense and will be worth an extra 5 to 7 pts in my opinion but my gut tells me Auburn wins a competitive game. Hope I'm wrong but gun to my head I'd have to lean towards Auburn in a close one.,,,Prediction: Auburn 85 Alabama 81

Props for the most elaborate and well-articulated reverse jinx, but frick THAT shite!!!

Honestly, good write up.

No need for either side to sling mud this year. Both teams are elite.

The fact that bama is at home, means they should win. The rest is over thinking.

With very good teams, home losses can happen, but still rare.

Ironically there have only been 10 Iron Bowls featuring the #1 team in football...

The closest to a #1 vs #2 was in 2013 which was #1 vs #4 which you all remember was the kick six game.

What’s Alabama like in the paint?

Much better than last year, but I don't think they'll dominate the glass as much as they have been recently vs Auburn. They will get some second chance points though. They are definitely significantly better in the front court than last year. That was their weakness last year IMO.

I think Auburn is the better team on a neutral court, but Bama has gotten a pretty good whistle this year and you know at home they'll get away with stuff. Last year we got a foul called on us for getting an elbow to the face over there lmao.

I'm expecting a track meet. Both teams can shoot the 3 really well. Wouldn't surprise me if Both have over 100.

Both teams will win at home. Will be an insane news cycle (and SECrant cycle) for Bama Saturday but the real test will be which team can limit the losses before the March rematch in Auburn.

The Horns wore them down for you. ; ) One of the few hoops games I have watched and man they are long and fast and deep.

Each home team will just win and split the series

Maybe the conference tournament can settle it but there’s no point in either team playing well in it

I’m pretty pumped for this. I really respect both these teams. I hate Auburn more than any other school, but for some reason I always root for them in basketball. I don’t care who wins a this game, though. Just want to see an epic matchup.

They both real deep, got minutes upon minutes of speed, and shoot the lights out.

eta: I'd say home field advantage but having all them seats might sting a bit.
