Well wasn't it Stanford players that started all of this mess ?

That is probably a big fat lie. Stanford is legit for athletics outside of the big 3.

They might as well be. Does that offend you? I’m beginning to think you graduated from one of them.

I like that the source of your information is an underlined sentence.

I said it at the genesis of this NIL mess and other rule changes that they have the very potential to end up destroying the college game.
First Super Conferences appeared
Debate of paying college players surfaced
Issues with sports injuries took center stage
POTUS and Congress had to threaten action before NCAA was formed to deal with these issues.
After NCAA formed (Dr Dudley at Vanderbilt lead the charge)
Conferences broke into smaller regional groups
Paying players was ruled illegal
Rules were adopted to reduce injuries
Everything old is new again if you live long enough.

Funny that you can't verify a clearly bullshite rumor. Stanford could get rid of football and no one would care. They could not put out a $$ for NIL in any other sport and still do well due to the value of the scholarship and degree.

Vonner is right. You are a stupid f**k that is obviously ignorant about the state and universities of Texas. You must be an out of state little T-shirt fan. When you get out of jr high, maybe you can comment intelligently. But let me educate you a bit, dumbass. They are part of the Texas Tech University System. You know, the guys out in Lubbock that kicked your arse a couple of weeks ago? You probably have no idea where or who that is either.

Only about half of the 85 number contributes during the season anyway. Then a new crop of 25 which half will contribute arrives the next year.

Stanford already tried axing several programs that were costly to run, but historically significant for the school. Sports like fencing, rowing, and sailing. They don't mean anything to SEC schools, but produced national titles for Stanford. They were forced to keep them, but the budget issues remain.
Eliminating all sports would be their way of contending with this situation, avoiding lawsuits from picking winners or losers.

I could see Stanford and potentially a few other schools pursuing an Ivy League-like situation.

I’m an Alabama grad and I’ve been complaining about the transfer portal, NIL and the general non competitive tiered system of modern college football for years.
The fact that I support a school that has maximized the current system doesn’t mean I’m in favor of that system or prevent me from wanting to look at options to improve it before it collapses under its own weight.
I’d actually argue it lends more weight to my arguments because clearly they aren’t based on my schools inability to compete.

I’m not seeing anything to back this up. It’s different out West and in Silicon Valley. The pocket protector crews out there rarely give a shite about sports. If they do it’s not college football it’s NFL , NBA or MLB. They are surrounded by pro teams. I’d love it if Stanford and Cal both shut their shite down.

Another Tarleton State grad angry because a person on the internet didn't know where it is.
Aren't you an A&M fan? Texas is 20-7 vs. Tech in the Big 12. Texas A&M was 6-10 vs. Tech in the Big 12.
They own you. Just like Mississippi State does.
