Fresh Market had a whole display of egg nog and egg custard in the glass bottle.

The girl on the end has really grown up
And we wonder why the streets of Baton Rouge smell like weed all of the time.

When I was a kid in the late 60’s early 70’s, on Friday night we’d go to dinner. Either Phil’s on Government or Ruby’s under the Perkins Road Overpass. It wasn’t just the shrimp basket or steak burger, it was also the community gathering that made it special, and both were always lit when an LSU game was involved.

BR takes a lot of flak, and much of it deserved, but if you live here, you can go places and always see friends. Ruby’s was like that and Phil’s still remains that way. Most cities you don’t have that sense of community. Started going to Phil’s on Government when I was a kid, now take mine to the new one. We always enjoy it.

Where do you live? If you’re in BR and sending this locally, Maxwells will do a basket with fresh prime cut steaks and sides, wine, etc.

Next to the apartments? I think it was a convenience store.

Believe it had a Fill a Sac in the corner when there was last something open. Over the years that building held a lot of things, though, and people remember it differently. IIRC, at one time or another it held a VW dealer, a night club, and some other operation. Billy Cannon ran his operation and the surveillance van was supposedly parked on the back street in College Town during the investigation.
Hmm. Can they do this under large rivers needing bridges that take generations to get approved and built?
Just because you were going through an experimental stage then, there’s no need to beat yourself up over it now.

How often does one need to go to a pharmacy at 1AM?

It was convenient being next to the hospitals if someone had a trip to the ER or late night issue, especially with children.
Early in the football season, it seemed like there was no end to the AI posts about some player or coach who came upon some tragic situation and saved the day. Peyton Manning bought a family restaurant out of foreclosure. About 10 players paid off some young sick child’s medical bills. 2 or 3 head football coaches were said to have adopted a suddenly orphaned child sometime over the last 15 years. With every post, hundreds of people fell for it.

You should have told him you were there to pick up all of the LSU coaches

After MMR had sent the jets to pick up coaches, and the Ole Miss fans unleashed the smear campaign involving college girls that day, I thought they should have trolled Ole Miss fans and sent another jet to pick up co-eds wanting to leave

The system of unlimited transfers has done far more good than harm for these kids.

There is a difference in saying no NIL and no portal vs no unlimited transfers. In addition to college credits, let’s see how many athletes transferring three times or more make the professional ranks. The example here is TJ Finley, not Jayden Daniels. Or Joe Burrow for that matter. It’s not an all or none proposition, with respect to an unlimited portal.

How many college credits do you think he has right now? I know that question is like a quaint relic of long ago, but I’d like to see how these athletes transferring frequently impact their academic progress.

Many college players are practically professional athletes, but most still need their college degree. The system of unlimited transfers will hurt more than it helps, like telling kids they can just skip the school lunch line and opt for unlimited soft serve ice cream. There is a better way, and one in the interest of most athletes, but the system is currently stuck on giving them absolute freedom to do anything.
Prayers for he and his family, I can't even imagine. I've heard him give a talk on this subject, so sorry to hear he will live this again.

When I was kid going to Bon Marche or Westmoreland, they had the Satellite plates. Fried cod, fries, and green beans, with chocolate pie for dessert was my usual favorite. Later on the roast beef was my regular. I miss the days when the line was out the door and everything was always fresh.
I seem to remember starting the night at Murphy’s with The Clash and Jagermeister, and don’t remember how the nights finished hahaha.

Christmas in July was wild, though.
There are a lot of tournaments across BR and opportunities to mix it up with teams not in the same league or frequent opponents. There are also tournaments in New Orleans teams can enter.
Even in today’s environment, calling out a coach in that manner on a political feed crosses a line into the bizarre and disturbed.

So now coaches are targets? They need help.

The “adults” ran the program and it sucked. Feels great to have the fun kid running it now

Agreed. Lane is standing on business and actually doing the adulting adults didn’t do. He isn’t sitting on the golf course like a retiree.

Qatar is heavily involved in LNG. Maybe that was the connection.
