The list of big games we've lost is equally impressive.

What is the modern era, though?

i believe Nick Fairley played a bigger part in that defeat than anyone. Dude was a total beast in that game

1997 Florida.

I thought about including them as well since we beat them, but they lost a handful of games that year and weren't as good as their previous #1 ranking would have suggest.

Had LSU played them after they were toppled from #1 I'd feel the same way. But the old Ball Coach had 'em rolling pretty good when they came to BR. They were utterly shocked by the loss.

2011 LSU by far had the best resume of any team we have beaten in the modern era but I don't think they were the best team per se

I think that it's been so long since this game was played that it's become a bit too easy to underestimate what a landmark game it was.

He decimated our Oline. Poor Anthony Steen...

I think the ticky tacky PF call on him in the first quarter only pissed him off.

2011 Bama
97 Florida
01 Tennessee

2007 Florida had a lot of talent that would grow up the next season so I'll count them for half

Would be interesting to come up with a list of top 5 teams each SEC school has beaten since say 1980.

And by top 5 I mean finished top 5. Or finished top 3.

Mizzou may well be the 1978 Cornhuskers, they had just beaten OU and were one game from playing for a Natty, Mizzou kicked their arse in Lincoln, then lost 25 straight to them

Does any LSU or Florida fan know how many nfl players were on those teams? I know all three had an absurd amount.
