This one really stung, it felt like the win was given away. Hopefully Lane and the other coaches take the lessons to heart. He does look like he’s feeling the pressure, that is a concern going forward. But the sky is not falling. Leavitt needs intensive coaching regarding protecting the football. Blaker can’t be trusted to get the game winning stop. Adjustments need to be made accordingly.
There is no possible advantage that formation could give you that outweighs the risk in a moment like that

Reasons the SEC won’t suspend Lane:
1. LSU didn’t break any rules
2. They know LSU didn’t break any rules
3. They know we know they know LSU didn’t break any rules.
4. They know the PCSA has zero chance of passing if they piss off Rep Johnson, Rep Scalise, or Sen Kennedy
5. They know the subsequent lawsuits for any “punishment” administered to LSU will be apocalyptic.
6. They know the people running LSU have the fortitude to follow through with such lawsuits.
It’s Moot. They should drop the federal suit and work with LSU to adopt better rules. They have no standing whatsoever to admonish LSU alone. Of the 5+ schools playing players that are eligible because of TROs, LSU is not among them. They don’t have to like us. But they are risking a hell of a lot if they think they can give us a paddlin because they don’t like our coach, our AD, our President, or our Governor.
ETA - the governor they all can’t stand seems to be pretty good friends with Kash Patel and the Trump administration in general. Take the off ramp Sankey. Don’t bother trying to shame us through lackeys via anonymous sources. It won’t work.

Fining LSU for not breaking a rule that others in the conference have is not an advisable path for the SEC. The whole point of this exercise is LSU refusing to be singled out for wrongdoing. They are going to have to be fair to LSU, or the others will go down with us. Cooperation is a two-way street. LSU does have enough ammunition to make this very long and very painful for the whole league.
