Except you’re missing the fact that LSU hasn’t had an identity on offense in 10 years. JoMo is installing almost an identical RPO offense that many of our current players have practiced for 3+ years (difference being that the QB will read safeties, not DEs). There are many fans like yourself who say we are going to struggle cause we have a new coach, but can’t even make a detailed point as to how his coaching “struggles” will translate on the field. If you want to formulate a legit argument, then I will discuss with you all day, but to just say we will struggle cause there is a new face is blatant ignorance.

It's easily South Carolina. For a team that's lost to Kentucky 4 years in a row and has yet to beat Texas A&M since they joined the conference, some of the projections I've seen have us way too high. I think we'll have a good season this year, but seeing some people predict a 10 win season is a little too optimistic in my opinion.

As a Georgia fan, I can tell you without a doubt it is UGA. Many fans expect to win the SEC East and challenge for the playoff, and that is simply unrealistic. You don't replace 35 seniors and an all timer junior (Roquan Smith) without YUGE drop off.

South Carolina and Florida will b STRONG in 2018 and the dawgs will have more than they can handle.

Seen way to may predictions of 12-0 or 11-1. 2018 Georgia is an 8-4 or 9-3 team in a rebuilding year.

That all sounds great. I admit that I don't follow state football enough to have an in depth and informed conversation with you about it.

But again, from an outside perspective, I am not the only one who thinks moorhead wont be able to keep up with the success seen under Mullen (who most everyone would agree was a better coach in many facets of the game).

Mullen had a knack for overperforming with limited resources and recruits (as it compares to other programs in the SEC), hence the reason he was such a hot coaching target.

I still dont think MSU will be a 9/10 win team consistently.

PS: I honestly don't think LSU will be either (under Orgeron).

My mistake, I was looking at its NFL results.

For NCAA it was 13th and finished at a 73.077% clip.

The top 3 were
Ashby AccuRatings
Atomic Football

I’m not saying you are wrong, but why? Surely, you have a reason and aren’t just assuming.

He has no reason. Like those Arkansas fans it's because he "thinks so". Some fans are butt hurt because they're used to seeing State picked last in the West(even though we haven't finished last since 2006), and it has for some reason pissed them off. I'm not saying we'll be a consistent 9 win team under Moorhead, hell we weren't with Mullen(7.5 win team), but we can at least, I believe, keep doing that.

Hiring a coordinator is 50/50 at best, even at an elite school.

That being said, Moorhead has definitely been impressive so far in recruiting. Probably gonna get the best back in LA.

I dont think you really understand what that means. LSU had an offensive identity for sure. Mostly under center ground and pound. It was just a very predictable offense for the most part (With usually sub-par QB play), being predictable certainly doesnt make it identity-less. I think most anyone would identify LSU's offense pretty easily in fact the last decade under Miles

The 1 thing that stood out to me I question on Moorhead from what was posted on 247's writeup with MSU writers is he supposedly wants to throw the ball downfield a lot more than MSU is accustomed to. I also wonder if he is willing to run Fitzgerald nearly as much as Mullen was. To me, by far Fitz' biggest strength is running the football, so you really dont want to mitigate that. One of his biggest weaknesses is accuracy as he's more of a thrower than passer and really likes that run game to get guys wide open for him in the pass game.

I'm not saying that's the downfall, but that was an interesting point I'd like to see if they really implement or not, because I really don't think you want to do that with State's receivers (a bit substandard for the conference) and Fitz.

I'm pretty sure he'll adjust as he goes. If Fitz can't throw it downfield I'm sure Moorhead won't force the issue. Now, some coaches are arrogant, hard-headed bastards(Mullen) and are going to do their "thing" come hell or high water. Let's hope Moorhead isn't like this.

How in the world is it 'unrealistic' for a fan base to expect a team that won 9 games in the prior year, and brings back almost the entire team, to win at least 9 games again?

Cause, State brah. 17-3 in the last 20 years. State has a horrible history. You know how those awful teams we had in the 60s and 70s are dragging Moorhead down, don't you?
