The better question that almost no one ever asks is “Why would they want to leave?”
Some schools, like Mizzou, left conferences to find stability because other schools required ADVANTAGES.
When considering who might leave the SEC, consider who’s most offended by equal revenue sharing and fair play, Those teams are most likely to destabilize the SEC.

GTech thought they were bigger than the SEC when they left back in 1965. 13 years later, they came crawling back only to be denied by the Mississippi schools. Alabama would be the same-success at the beginning of their independence, then be average and begging to rejoin the conference a decade after leaving.
I wish GTech hadn’t threw a hissy and left the conference.
I don’t think anyone will leave…
It's funny how many people missed the actual point of my post and that it was actually a condemnation of the current playoff system.

Miss St is the last school who'd leave the SEC.

It won't be their choice.

I could see our admin and leadership preferring to be in the Big 10.

With 5 of 12 playoff teams, 6 of the top-25 basketball teams and all the tv revenue coming to all SEC teams yearly, it's a wonder they ALL don't leave.
You're an idiot, if you are serious!

Much better fit.

I don't intend to be mean-spirited about it, but Mizzou really would be a much better fit in the B1G.
Maybe. I won’t argue the point, nor do I care if Mizzou is forced out. Mizzou wanted the Big Ten. Not sure if it was really offered, as some say.
Time changes all things.
I’ll only caution that some college football fans should be careful what they wish for.
The super-conference of blue bloods would lead to many losing blue blood status, which is Notre Dame’s fear.
Texas pushed its advantages too far, which destroyed the Big 12. Once they got their wish, the win felt hollow. They looked to the SEC and finally agreed to equal revenue sharing.
I don’t blame a school for pressing advantages so long as it doesn’t destroy the entire sport. Nothing collegial about that.

JMU and Tulane both made it.
Texas Tech also made it.
And they didn't need to play tough schedules at all to do it.
Alabama's schedule this year was over 14 times more difficult than JMU.
That's more than games played. And JMU still lost a game.
It's a fricking joke.

Your post overall makes good points. I have long been brutal about Mizzou not being SEC but that was just in the spirit of being an asshat for the sake of being an asshat. Mizzou hasn't been a complete disappointment insofar as fielding good teams. I think it's simply a matter of geographically influenced culture.
Missouri is kind of its own state. It has some midwestern flavorings, as well as some southern leanings in some areas, and a mix of those in between throughout the state. I think, however, based upon the university's location in the state, that B1G would be a better fit for the institution and its sports teams. That's not to say that y'all haven't been a worthy member of the SEC, it's just that your style of ball and fan interaction would have made a huge splash in the B1G. It's truly their loss for not having you as one of the premier members of that conference. And that's why I think that Mizzou will leave the SEC at some point. I have a strong suspicion that if the B1G came calling, Mizzou would bolt for the door and it would prove wildly beneficial to the university and the B1G conference.

Louisiana State. Their insecurity will eventually force them to run.

South Carolina. Would be a better fit in the ACC I think.

Came here to essentially make this point... Greed has been the reason for the downfall of the CFB as we knew it. Who will be like bitch arse Notre Dame and declare they are better than the sum.

Texas. Hardly a year goes by they don't start bitching and muttering about independence.

You are fast becoming my favorite LSU poster. I appreciate the honesty without the usual bullshite from other LSU posters...since you are being civil and honest I will too.
I agree we would probably be a better fit in the Big1G. You have our State pegged correctly and there in lies the dilemma. We truly are a melting pot of cultures..some Southern, some Midwestern, and St Louis being more Eastern.
When all was going down I thought we would be a better fit in the Big1G, but based upon conversations outside the rant, and in person at many of the SEC venues I have traveled to...the vast majority of SEC fans are very happy we are here. I believe we have assimilated into the SEC and have done so respectfully which is our culture. We are nice folks, but we are willing to fight if pushed. I think that some in the SEC were expecting us to be quiet and only speak when spoken to. That's a mistake. Not sure if we would leave to the Big1G at this point because cash is king.

Yet somehow OU was able to win 11 Big 12 Conference championships in football to Texas paltry 4. I don't remember OU having the Oklahoma Network on ESPN.
