Whatever happened to getting married in the bride's church?

It’s expensive to have stuff at two different venues. We would have had to pay for flowers at two different venues, a traffic guard at the church. The organist, etc. We just hired our minister to come to our chosen venue. And saved money in an already outrageously expensive ordeal.

My son's best friend got married at this venue. Isn't it on Houston Dale Nutt's old farm?

In Bama, they get married during the annual family reunion. They line up all the 12 year old girls and pair them up with the 15 year old cousins, and have a mass ceremony

Apparently, in the New South, folks schedule weddings during sports seasons.

Where do kids get married in your SEC state?…. we have the Sassafras Springs Vineyard "Chapel Ruins”

I’m not trying to be overtly contrarian…or completely skeptical here

… but it seems to me that conducting your ceremonial marital nuptials & vows in a venue with the word “Ruins” in its actual name is not a very good omen or necessarily favorable for the best of matrimonial luck?

Springing for the Lowe’s garden thing was a classy touch.

Same for me. But the building was torn down last year. The owner died from Chinese Covid in 2021.

Attended a wedding at Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
12 Hour Drive Sucked.
Wedding in a glass chapel as snow was falling was a special scene that I'll remember forever.

I read that it was torn down.

Unfortunately my family members that lived in Albertville have all passed away, so I don't make it there anymore.

I made many trips there growing up to visit family. Catfish Cabin and Wilson's Barbeque were always our 2 spots!

Damn, I didn't realize that. It had been there for decades.

And promoting children getting married. Oh my! I believe the other SEC states have laws against it.

Churches in Brazos County get more requests for same-sex marriages than any other county in Texas.
