I am going to stop watching once you do. Now that you’ve shared your thoughts my perspective is totally different.

I've already quit watching it. Haven't watched in years since all this mess started. Don't even miss it either

think as you get older it starts to wane a bit anyway I used to sit on my couch 12 hours every Saturday and catch every game. Now I'll watch OSU and if there's another game on I'll try and catch it but won't move my life around for it

This. I get excited every summer as the season approaches. I go to the home games I want to go to. I watch every game. But lsu is usually the only game I watch now. I’ll golf until game time now whereas I used to cook out back all day watching. Just not that interested anymore. Could be age. But I still love being in the stadium.

I have those same thoughts, but the truth is once the season is about 5 games deep I've learned all the players names, where they're from etc and get reinvested all over again.

Once the pads start popping I put all the nonsense surrounding CFB out of my mind and just enjoy the game itself...which really hasn't changed as much as the off field stuff.

Problem is that the toothpaste is out of the tube. If the portal and payments get limited teams will go back to paying under the table. The NIL and transfer no rules by the ncaa can’t go backwards now. They fricked it up from the start. Ad that’s coming from a grad of a school that has benefited greatly from it. I think it needs to be reeled in but how?

It will never disappear because of gambling. I might watch less and less but I realize it’ll still be popular but maybe not as popular

Having kids did this to me. Saturday football during Alabama games. That was the first death knell for it. It didn’t help that the first game I missed was Stephen Garcia going Superman on us and my kid making a game saving tackle.
The second was when we played atm in college station and I had my youngest asleep in my arms and a play happened and I yelled. And he cried. So now I’ve become less vocal.
And age. She has a lot to do with it

College football is a business. I know that that’s obvious. When the money stops rolling in, things will change.

Well, the money is rolling in more than ever. So as much as we hate the way things currently are, we still keep watching. And we’re gonna keep watching for many more years.

Been watching since I was a young kid. It probably would take death for me to stop. As someone who is older , I realize it will never be like when I was young kid or even like 25 years ago. But as a fan of the sport I will still cheer for my team and watch good games. I'm watching tonight. I use to watch NFL all the time but when the Saints were screwed out of a Super Bowl bid several years ago. It made me realize the NFL has become like the WWE and I only watch the Super Bowl now. So hopefully college doesn't become like the WWE scripted. If so, I guess there is always FCS or smaller colleges to watch and high school.

I used to watch the NFL on a regular basis.
Now it is only on occasion if it is a significant match up.
I play fantasy football to be part of a family activity, but I seldom watch the players on my team.

I'm starting to feel the same way about college football.

I just listened to Finebaum admit that going to the 9 game schedule was specifically due to ESPN wanting more inventory.

This thread is shaping up as a focus group for rapidly aging negative sonsofbitches who get a quick dopamine hit from posting that everything sucks now and the old days were so much better on the internet. May each of you age gracefully.!

I stopped. I just listen to games via Sirius XM and TuneIn, while I do work in and out of the house. Keeps me moving around and accomplishing more instead of sitting and watching tv.

I agree. I used to spend waaaaayyyyy to much time watching and following CFB… I’m down to UGA games only and maybe a series or two of a couple of other games. I didn’t watch the Fiesta bowl and didn’t know who won until about 2 o’clock today. It’s just getting less and less important.

That’s not the only issue though. The product is not good. TV has ruined the flow if the game. It’s unwatchable on TV and it’s unbearable in person….the commercials are bad on TV but they’re MISRRABLE in person….sitting in a crowd with nothing happening on the field every 10 minutes for 5 minutes over 3 hours is not enjoyable.

I think it’s also way over exposed. Most games are not remotely interesting but all of them are televised like it’s must see TV. I know the audience is massive but I bet 75% of the audience is doing something else and not paying a lot of attention to the game. Given the commercials and lack of anything going on it’s hard to imagine people are riveted to Dr Pepper and All State ads.

I haven’t watched the VOLS for 30 years just to quit now. We will rebuild eventually.
