First of all, it's not extortion. You're being hyperbolic using that word. Easton Royal isn't extorting anyone.

If he's about the money, then he's accepting the highest offer for his talent/service. It's the exact same thing we all do in many facets of our life.

He's worth whatever someone or some group of people is willing to pay him. It's that simple.

If you have a job in which you trade your time and labor for money, then I guess you're a mercenary.

If you put your house on the market and hope for a bidding war, then you're a mercenary and a piece of sh*t.

I imagine the same thing holds true if you sell a car.

Sounds to me as if he's taking care of business and taking care of his family - the exact same thing everyone is trying to do.

I'm going to imagine that if someone came along and offered any of us a significantly increased amount of money and or benefits to do the exact same job we're currently doing, then the overwhelming majority of us would accept the offer with way more money and benefits.
