No one cares about the red river shootout, those fanbases root for each other when they aren’t having a circle jerk at the state fair

Jalen Hurts said there was nothing like playing in Dallas in the Cotton Bowl with the State Fair going on and the crowd being 50/50 and somebody screaming on every play. He said Iron Bowl was cool and all but it was still just a home and away game.

I love the Aggie and Sooner rivalries equally, but they are different. Very different.

How heated can a rivalry game be that kicked-off at 9:00am Pacific for 20 years.

The Egg Bowl has held more national interest than tu/0u since the dissolution of the SWC and Big8.

Exactly! just like another lukewarm rivalry that nobody watches, Ohio State vs. Michigan

I wouldn't get your panties in a wad. Outside of Texas, most don't give 2 shites about the A&M/tu game.

I'm not sure these epic rivalry games aren't a thing of the past. Almost every game is streamed now. Back in the day, you got a couple of televised games on a Saturday. OU/Nebraska, USC/Notre Dame, OSU/Michigan, etc. were sort of national games.

I'm just not sure that's true anymore. Hell, I watched A&M in a midweek game against Texas State last week. I'm sure there were dozens of us..

agree that the environment that forged these rivalries is long gone. there are big games every week now and the audience is very fragmented. ironically, players switching sides adds a bit of juice to them.

You guys had something slightly similar when you played at Legion field.

And you traded it in for a typical home and home.

And the ONLY reason that OU and Texas are friendly at all is because we joined the SEC together. We are like two kids from the same neighborhood who hated each other who ended up both moving to a different neighborhood across town and are taking crap from the kids in the neighborhood.

It will take a few more years for that to wear off...
