Is it crazy to say 07 UF is the best college basketball team of all time?

Although they were a great team, I wouldn't say best of all time.

Still salty about the UVA loss... Our road to the Final Four was insane. Beat New Mexico on a last second shot then went on a roll going through the Blue Blood gauntlet, (4) Kansas, (1) UNC, & (2) Kentucky.

Auburn - 2018-19: 30-10, with all due respect to the 98-99 squad, I think the Final Four team gets the nod, especially with the way they rolled to a SECT championship.
2002-03 Auburn will always be special to me. Marquis Daniels, Marco Killingsworth, Brandon Robinson, Kyle Davis. Lost 79-78 to Nat. Champs Syracuse in Sweet 16.

Time moves on and I attended all of CM’s team’s games early 70s. But for Alabama, the “rocket eight” team 1955-56 is often said to be the best Tide team ever (relative).
They went 23-3, were undefeated 14-0 in the SEC, hung 101 on Kentucky. The Rocket 8 leader, Harper, AVERAGED over 21 rebounds and 23 points a game. The offense was phenomenal.
They did not play in NCAAs. If they had, beating San Francisco (undefeated with Bill Russell and KC Jones) that year would have been a feat.
What happened is this: the NCAA only allowed one team per conference. And the previous year the NCAA had passed a rule declaring freshmen ineligible for varsity, giving only three years eligibility. Alabama’s group of top players had all played as freshmen so they were effectively ineligible for the NCAAs... so Alabama stepped aside and Kentucky took their place in the tournament.
It’s worth googling that team if you are interested in history. I played many a pick-up game in foster auditorium and the spot of the longest goal in NCAA history was marked by a small metal “x.” Also on a sour note, Foster Auditorium was the site of George Wallace’s stand in the door...

Probably not, but have an argument. Only starting 5 to ever repeat as champions.

Close call for OM when picking between 2000-2001 and 2012-2013. I think our Marshall Henderson-led 2013 team would beat the 2000 team in a game, but the 2000 team won more than one game in the tournament so gotta give it to them.

Kentucky - 1995-96: 34-2, only losses came against UMass and Miss State, both of which joined UK in the Final Four. Tony Delk and Antoine Walker led a team that featured 9 future NBA players.
Ridiculous year for college basketball.

Hog fans on this website value that ‘93 win over Missouri more than they do actually winning the National Championship that year

The 1990-91 team was better than that team you are talking about. #1 seed in the NCAAT.
I don't know that I'd agree. I mentioned Nolan's comment on the '91 team earlier, but it may have been '89. I just know it was one of the MayDay teams.
The '89 team had the best collection of talent. Mostly the same core, but it also had sharpshooter Cannon Whitby, more size with Mario Credit and Larry Marks.
But MayDay and Big O were true freshmen, so I don't know if it was actually better or not.

98-99 was probably the better Auburn team but the Final Four team got hot at the right time. That postseason run was fun.

That wasn’t Mississippi State’s beat season. I’d say our final four season was our best, and the game of change was out most historical.
Pre-integration basketball shouldn’t be counted as anyone’s best season.

1996 Kentucky may be the greatest basketball team in history.

Yes, that loss to Kansas hurt my feelings as a child. I was going to the Final Four in Indianapolis if they had won. They were up about 12 I believe at halftime. They beat Alabama pretty good margin in the sweet 16 and were rolling.

Best Vandy team was 1964-65. Ranked top 5 most of the year. They finished 23-3 overall and 15-1 in conference play. Unfortunately they were eliminated by Michigan in the round of 8 when all-american center Clyde Lee was called for 4 fouls in the first 4 minutes, two offensive and two defensive (and always said openly he only committed 1 foul).

Nolan said his '91 team
Was that the SJW team that he went off on because his players were described as athletically gifted while Duke players were described as smart? That dude was embarrassing.

Hogs beat Missouri's "best team EVER" 120-68 and misery fans in this thread are trying to turn this into a positive? Whatever helps you sleep better at night.

Possibly the best State team was 1961-62.
Finished 24-1 and 13-1 in the SEC (only loss was to Vandy). Finished 4th in the final AP poll and did not have the opportunity to play in the NCAA Tournament. I realize the 58-59 team finished 3rd in the final AP poll.
It was a shame that those teams did not get a chance to play in the postseason.
Either of those teams could have won a NC.

I honestly just couldn't see that '07 team losing come NCAAT time. People talk about Brewer, Horford, and Noah, but Green really was the player that made that team go. Also Humphrey stretching the floor cannot be overstated for how it helped Green, Brewer, and Horford. Just such a great overall team.
They had almost no weaknesses on offense and were the best defensive team in the country.
Green being a pass-first PG played to the strengths of the team, so they aren't necessarily better with a PG that could score.
The bigs couldn't shoot FTs well, but that's most college teams.
I wish they had had some tougher opponents in the tourney both years to further cement their legacy as all-timers.
