What if peyton manning went to Florida?

putting Danny W on the bench? Does florida win another national title? do they not win in 1996? are the unstoppable?......hard to envision them not being amazing....i think they win back to back in 96 and 97

I truly believe we don't win in 1996. He had some sort of "unclutch" thing in college, and if he'd come here he probably would have found some other tea, likely Free Shoes, to become our version what we were to him. (An Orange clad, "UT" quarterback named Manning still hasn't won in The Swamp.)

So in your mind Manning would have beaten out the QB that won every game against him and won the Heisman over him? Peyton was a great NFL QB but Danny and the Gators owned him and the Vols.

Unless he was gonna suit up on D it wouldn’t matter. The nebraska team that decimated the gators and the Nebraska team that did the same thing to Peyton and the vols woulda still been around. Spurrier wasn’t a fan of playing triple option teams. Chews up too much clock and limits his offensive strategy.

Who knows if spurrier and manning could have even gotten along. Spurrier is an arse and Peyton is mouthy(it’s a Larry bird kinda trash talk but it’s there)

I would think that he would have redshirted in ‘94 with UF having both Dean and Wurrfel, then likely remains on bench till ‘97, I do think it’s conceivable that UF would’ve continued their SEC dominance and could have won natty in ‘98.

Peyton never had any clutch in the NFL either, had to have the Superbowl "win" over the Bears totally rigged in his favor, ditto the Denver retirement "win".

The QB is one position; there are 22 starters. Take the QB's away and Florida was still a lot better. When the talent around you is much better than the talent against you, you always look good. Switch Peyton and Danny, and Danny goes 0-4 against Florida (really 0-3, because Peyton did not start the 1994 game).

What if Steve Spurrier went to Tennessee since he was from up the road and that's where he wanted to go?
