At this point I'm resigned to Golesh.

And if it's him, I'd be very content. I obviously want Lane first, but Golesh would be a very good second choice in my opinion.

think UF is nuts if he’s not in their top 3.

Agreed, I've been pounding that drum for a while. It's Lane or Golesh for me. And if it's not the Lane Train, I'd love to have the Russian Agent strolling the sideline in the Swamp.
Still want Golesh if it isn't Lane. If we can't bring the Lane train into station, give me the Russian Agent.
What the hell kinda score is that.
I literally only watch sports on television. So I cancelled my YouTube TV Saturday and just got the ESPN streaming service. It's not bad at all, and I'm saving like 60 bucks a month.

Id take Drink.

Damn straight.

We could do a LOT worse

Indeed you could. Drink is a lovely choice.
The guy who said Ben Simmons was better than LeBron.

That's what Disney is counting on which is why they putting the screws to Google/YouTube TV.
I despise Disney's in your face liberal progressive agenda but unfortunately they are the parent company of ESPN/ABC where most of the SEC games are televised.
I will look hard for other alternatives before I give Disney any money.

It’s a logical/decent/safe hire

It's none of those things. Perhaps optically it's "safe" to some, but it absolutely isn't logical. It's a disastrous fit, and it'll like ruin his stock, just like it ruined Napier's, and cause us to be doing this all over again in 3 to 4 years.
I'm not buying it. Even an incompetent stooge like Stricklin would have enough spatial awareness to understand that a move like that would SERIOUSLY frustrate the lion's share of supporters of the program. He has to realize that he has almost no good will left, he just wouldn't do something like this, he just can't.

don’t shoot the messenger

Darn.

This guy is a troll, by the way, he actually had the cajones to call Mike phucking Norvell "elite" in the year 2025.

Not big on Golesh

I understand the trepidation to certain extent, but the dude checks a lot of the boxes we'd like. He's a well known good recruiter, he has high level SEC coordinator experience, he runs a dynamic and exciting offense that kids would want to play in, and he's built from scratch a COMPLETELY dead USF football program, and he did it literally over night. Besides Lane, he's the other guy that I think could, in short order, get this thing back up and running.
quote:

Why would you hire him?

I have no idea. But he's the current betting favorite, and it's a VERY on brand Starkville Strick type of hire.

He got so many chins though

I snort laughed at this.

Id be ok with any of these tbh

Pretty much same.

I have personally been waiting for Mike Elko my entire life

That is an insane statement, my man.

Drink would be an idiot to leave Mizzou.

I agree, he has it made. He'd also be walking into a situation with a very disappointed and skeptical fanbase, where the vast majority didn't want him to begin with. Not a wise move imo.

How about Lincoln Riley?

He's got major red flags, specifically on defense, but yes, in a heartbeat.

What about a man named Jed out in Seattle?

He's got a little name value around here too. But I think it'd still be a tough sell.
