That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.

Nobody counts 2007 as part of the Bama dynasty.

Alabama has completely dominated the SEC. Losing a few close games to LSU doesn't change that.

Domination doesn't mean a 1.000 win %.

Did you miss the fact that Alabama wins almost every conference game in blowout fashion?

Alabama shuts out or blows out 5-7 SEC games a year.

he dares them to frick up. he expects them to focus on the little things it takes to beat the opponent, he expects them to do what they are taught in practice, and carry it our during the games. he's a tough coach and his players are a reflection of him. they won't dare take plays off if they want to stay in the line up because as well as saban recruits, there is always someone on that squad who can replace a slacker.

He can out work everyone while convincing players, coaches and everyone else to buy in. No secret to it.

Alabama pays a veritable army at the football offices to deliver on Saban's directives. He has "consultants" coaching guys up all offseason. He has an administration that spares no expense to get him exactly what he wants. He can dump the chaff each year. It really isn't that difficult to figure out.

Accountability. You don't do your job, you don't play. No exceptions. He's found a way to get these kids to realize that it isn't about them, it's about the team. And that's a pretty difficult task when you have a team full of elite guys. I know that's nothing earth shattering, but very few coaches can pull it off with year to year consistency.

In life, it's not so much about what you KNOW, but how you communicate and convince others around you to DO.

It's the Bama effect. At Bama, average coaches turn into good coaches, good coaches turn into great coaches and great coaches turn into GOAT candidates. The greatness of Bama combined with the greatness of Saban equals the greatest run in college football history.

That's actually true and not just in football. When Nick Saban arrived at Alabama, the University had national titles in....2 sports, ever. Since the "Process" has been in place, the number has jumped to 5 in just 2 years.

So what is it?

Alabama football and Kentucky basketball historically share a common thread. Recruiting, coaching, facilities, and expectations all play a part but 2 things seem constant in constant success.

1) error free play compared to opponents
2) ability to win in the spotlight AND the target on your shirt

It is very close to the process that USMC uses, it is always evolving, and experimental. Spend some time on P.I... you will find that the battalions constantly change and trade methods and treatment of the trainees. They will actually make it rough for 50 guys, to find out if one guy is special. The upside of that is, you will probably find 6 or 7 other special ones in that platoon that you never even had your eye on. I have seen them make 1 guys life miserable, that they knew wouldn't give up, just so they can make his platoon members mad and see how they will react.

If LSU hadn't had offensive struggles the past several years, then Nick Saban's Alabama would have far less notoriety. Alabama hasn't had a beautiful season yet. 14-0 is the best you can do but go back and actually review the box scores or revisit the games. Hmm.

3 things:
First off - he's a great defensive coach.

Pays for the best players (not much different, just doesn't get investigated)

Can lose games but still play for title (unlike Oregon)

I just hope they replace him next year with Kirby Smart -

He leaves nothing to chance. He has his finger on everything. I took my son to the Alabama football camp this summer. One of the workers was talking to a few of us Dads. She said that they work all year on the camp. He has input on every little detail of the camp. And this wasn't the star studded camp. He was there all day everyday. Even working with the 8-10 year olds. He hollered at a couple of them to get off their helmet and pay attention.

I live in New Orleans, so from what I hear, the success is because of: Easy scheduling, favorable refs, the REC, control of the commissioner's office in Birmingham, the schedule, mulligans, buying players, paying refs, deer antler spray, steroids, weak academics, no professional team in the State, the uniforms, drugs, thugs, gumps and gumpin, the Alabama schedule, more mulligans, making Louisiana kids commit treason, using up his players so they are busts in the NFL, cars, girls, perks, the phase of the moon, use of the oogie board, stealing other teams signals, Saban's height, hair color, wife, daughter, history, and a student body that chants despicable obscenities on national TV... oops maybe not the last thing, but ...
