I mean I met a girl who is a recruiting coordinator for Bama. Brunette, sort of cute, wears two national championship rings as pendants at all times. She gave me a quick run down of her responsibilities and what she has to be able to tell Nick every time he walks in to a room about a recruit... and I don't think he had the capabilities or time to be able to do such things at Michigan State.

Reminds me of a woman I met in a bar once who told me she'd just divorced a Chinese national who was part of the team that shot down the space shuttle with lasers from a van parked in Vero Beach, FL. Hell, I'd bought her drinks all night except for she got pissed when I lost it on her description of aliens she'd seen. "They have trumpets for noses." Hard to keep a straight face on that one.

Don't know what that has to do with this chick that was at my tailgate who works for the Alabama Athletic Department.

I can go on and on. Alabama's dynasty is neat, but it's not all time great.

So who was better? Nebraska? They won their national championships when Oklahoma who was their chief conference competition was a shell of itself. Also was gifted a share of the national title in 1997 and didn't even play the other top team in the country, Penn State for the title in 1994. Miami? Won three of their four national championships playing at home in the Orange Bowl where they were unbeatable. Had a very pedestrian record when they played in big bowl games outside the state of Florida. Florida State? Played in the atrocious ACC for most of their run and won their national titles in years Miami was down. USC? Had losses to teams that finished the season unranked in 2003, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Most of their success came at a time when the other traditional powers in the Pac-10 like UCLA and Washington were down. Also, Oregon wasn't the powerhouse they would later become under Kelly. Oklahoma? The Big 8 wasn't referred to as Oklahoma and the Seven Dwarves for nothing. I can go on and on with other great teams that had great runs. All of them had flaws to their resume.

There's truth in that (re:personality differences between Saban and Miles) but the reason Alabama has beaten LSU and what makes Saban so successful is the fact that he recruits the best offensive lines in the country.

That's one of the main reasons why LSU fans are so upset with Robinson. He's the number 1 left tackle in the country and from Louisiana. LSU fans know where the games are won and lost.

We also don't like the games that are played to get some of our best talent...girlfriends, gifts, handlers, etc. (that also includes Auburn).

Yeah...a lot of people forget that Nebraska only played a Top 2 team once during their run in the mid-90s. #2 Penn State couldn't play them in 1994 due to contractual obligations to the Rose Bowl and #1 Michigan couldn't play them in 1997 for the same reasons. They were good but they didn't play the second best team in the country in '94 and was barely awarded a share of the national title in 1997 because Tom Osborne was retiring and the Coaches wanted to give him a grand send off.

Always kinda thought you were an idiot with your relentless bashing of Greg McElroy but this is a very solid post that makes a convincing argument for Bama's current run as being the GOAT
