Poor Mrs. Patmore. That really was the worst commission ever.

Feel free to blame the ones taking the adjustable rate mortgages and the government for encouraging the loans to a wider segment of the population, but just remember what started the whole housing bubble. The banks had found a money tree with the bundles, and to keep feeding the beast, they needed more loans, so you are fooling yourself thinking that the banks needed much encouragement from any other source. And yes, there is such a thing as predatory lending when all or almost all the financial expertise lies on one side of the equation, especially when that side of the equation needs those signatures to keep making money. It is just another form of fraud in my opinion.

Incredibly well-done movie in every way. Masterpiece.

It was fantastic. I have to laugh my arse off at how brilliant it was.
However, for some reason it also gives me hope that tomorrow, he just casually throws down a "it's finished."

When a team is led by a secondary player in tackles, it usually isn't a good thing. Also, if a secondary player is leading in tackles, doesn't that mean they are likely being relatively torched with completed passes on their watch?

Well, it sounds like screeners might not be around much longer especially of films that aren't out in theaters. They were always an expensive proposition for low budget movies, and the fact they are now being used by people to make pirated downloads, yeah, I think they get phased out pretty quick. I do think you will start seeing more and more "intimate" films, ones that really don't lose anything by being seen on a small screen, start being released online as much as in a theatre- hell, you already see it a lot with independents. It will evolve like anything else. You can call it whatever you want- stealing or justified use, but I am not sure I want to live in complete anarchy. It would probably suck and be exhausting.

Crazy that Ridley and John only made 445k for the film. They get a stake in the film but only after it surpasses 1 billion
Yeah, but with very few film credits between them, they can both now likely get upper 6 figures/low 7 for next 1-2, not too mention their agents have a lot more leverage for any other deals going on.

none of that happens in a hard money environment
There is no such thing anymore and really there hasn't been in decades.
Also, wasn't the boom and bust cycle of the late 1800s and early 1900s all taking place in "a hard money environment?"

loved it. never left a theatre feeling more depressed though

Just to put this here. Never noticed that when the leg lamp arrives, the front of the package says "His End Up", with the T conveniently cut off. Nothing subtle about that...

Nothing like Internet warriors calling someone who has literally created an entire world, not to mention written several other stories and novels, lazy.
re: Who would you like as Young Han Solo

Clearly Captain Malcolm Reynolds. Basically, Joss Whedon has already made this movie with the Firefly series, and they won't be able to improve much on that.

I am laughing at you guys so much… there has been a gay relationship in Star Wars from the very beginning.

I really don't think people are taking into account how much emotional turmoil Kylo Ren was probably in at that time, and as we all saw in Empire Strikes Back, unless you are very focused, you end up being lost amongst the power of the Force and not in control of it.
Force Awakens score

I have to give John Williams huge props for this. I was laughing when I first heard that it would be eligible for Oscar consideration, just because I figure it would be too derivative, but he really has taken the touchstone elements of the original score and then expanded upon them seamlessly. Rey's Theme is just a joy to listen to, and the x-wing scherzo is equally fun.

Not to mention in that 30 minutes, she goes from being terrified of being called by the light saber/Force, to being somewhat "taught" by Kylo Ren's own actions to how to harness some of its powers. There is also some speculation that, before being dumped on Jakku, she had started initial training.

I thought it was kind of cheesy. BTW, if they have a space ship, why does Rey have to climb the long-arse staircase? Couldn't they just have landed at the top of the hill?
Why not google Wudang Mountains? That is the first thing I thought of when she was having to climb steps to an old temple. I am sorry you don't speak myth. Perhaps you would enjoy the movies more if you read a little Campbell first.

Jesus, no one doesn't acknowledge there are plot holes in ANY big action franchise, including Star Wars...including the first trilogy. Who the F cares? Seriously. It was an enjoyable movie. I am actually beginning to feel sorry for the people out there that can't just enjoy it for what it is- a great reboot for a great story.

I LOVED Han Solo retracing the hands the Falcon fell into and why in the intervening years. That was just PERFECT.
I also rather loved Chewie trying to impress the Resistance doctor..
Oh, and one more that I can't completely remember, but it was Han Solo saying that he never asked that question before doing ( something totally crazy as $%^$) in response to Finn. It was definitely a "never tell me the odds" moment.
Leia: Don't do that.
Han: do what?
Leia: anything.
