Of course. I got to two or three Saints games a year. NOLA is one of the largest alumni groups outside the state of Alabama

I’ve seen quite a bit of Bama - Patriots lately. Weird connection there.

Rebels/Saints (the Saints held their training camp in Jackson for years and there’s the Archie connection, plus there are an estimated 5,000+ Ole Miss alumni in New Orleans)

Rebels/Giants (obvious Eli connection)

A lot of older Bama fans are also Miami Dolphins and Dallas Cowboys fans. I know my Father was big fans of both teams. It may be from the excellence in coaching that both teams enjoyed the 1970's. There are also some connections between both teams and Alabama. Perhaps some of our veteran Bama fans would care to comment.

Exactly. The team with the only perfect season and the team to win the most regular season games in the decade who also played in 5 Super Bowls in the '70s

The link with the Dolphins of the 70s/early 80s was Bob Baumhower, Don McNeal and Tony Nathan, maybe others. Don Shula also stated that he liked Alabama players. (For some reason I couldn't stand the Dolphins. Maybe it was because they had a kind of vanilla personality. Maybe those dull white RBs Csonka and Kiick, Idk.)

The link with the Cowboys was Leroy Jordan an all-time favorite Bama player. Plus, it didn't take much to like the Cowboys at that time.

In response to another poster who mentioned the Bama/Patriots angle. I assume it's all the winning and Saban/Belichick. I liked them since John Hanna, a Bama great who played with them and at retirement in the late 80s was considered by many as the greatest OL of all time.

At one time many Bama fans were Jets fans because of Joe Namath and many Southern fans were Bama fans because of Namath. Like a boy Paul Finebaum in Memphis, who btw, contrary to the belief of some, is NOT a Bama fan now but a UT fan. He just states what he believes and rides the hot team. He IS a Saban fan. He does appreciate what they've done for him and stated when still in Bham on more than one occasion that he owes much of his success to Alabama football. Their success over the decades generated the passion of the fans and the fans of their foil AU, a derivative program. Kept things stirred up even when Bama was down.

I just wanted confirmation that I’m not the ONLY LSU & Cowboys fan.

Surely it’s common in North LA & East TX.

A lot of Cowboys fans in north FL too when they drafted Emmitt (and this was years before the Jaguars existed).

ESPN did a poll several years back to determine what percentage of people in each state considered themselves fans of football. Of all states, Alabama had the highest percentage of people who considered themselves fans of college football, and the lowest percentage of people who considered themselves fans of pro football. The NFL just isn't that big a deal here.
