The justice system overrides organization rules. The ignorance around here is astounding.

How many of you morons are genuinely under the impression that private orgs are empowered to make rules that are… illegal?

LSU already paid them. I’d say their attention is fully focused on the SEC now

This should have never gone to court. It's been well established that you get to play 4 years. Red shirts and injuries that shorten seasons is not arbitrary but it seems they want to make it that way. Just because you can't make a pro roster should have no bearing on your 4 years. End of story.

Are you saying antitrust doesn’t apply to the NCAA & the SEC lol?

Of course not. The NCAA is a monopoly; a conference with only 16 member schools isn’t. See the difference?

No. Neither of them are antitrust exempt, and the NCAA’s conferences are extensions of the NCAA.

Alston applies to conferences when they engage in agreements or coordinated conduct affecting interstate commerce.

The SEC has literally paid a massive settlement on the record to resolve antitrust claims… including almost $3 billion in damages last year (House v. NCAA / Hubbard / Carter)

You apparently are unaware that the NCAA is losing court cases over this

Read this OP

Then explain how you think the SEC is going to be immune.

The NCAA is considered the administrative arm of the member institutions. There is no difference

If you would bother to learn about the issue, you would see the conference has significant legal exposure on this matter

It is common sense and was understood for decades even if a court had not ruled on it. So multiple judges have ruled signing a pro contract or appearing on a pro roster makes a player ineligible.

Correct. When a player exhausts their eligibility or waives their remaining eligibility.

The class of 2022 and the dozens of players involved in these actions all over the country did not waive their eligibility. They were told by the inept NCAA that they had none remaining, only to see a rule passed months later that would have given them the fifth year they had been seeking.

That is the reality that people like you are either unaware of or simply ignore in your narrative building.

The courts have a long history of intervening mostly in favor of players where the NCAA’s inconsistency and lack of clarity impedes on their ability to pursue their eligibility and the NIL earning potential that comes with it.

The players received injunctive relief that allowed them to play while their case moved through the courts to be decided in the merits, just like Trinidad Chambliss did when the NCAA rejected his multiple petitions for additional eligibility (SIXTH year).

Kiffin believed the court order was valid and enforceable, and today’s ruling affirmed that belief.

The SEC has opened itself to liability for violating the court’s order and the player’s ability to compete and earn benefits under the new 5 for 5 standard set out by the NCAA itself.

they screwed up too. 5 for 5 should have started next year.

That would have made things worse because it would have overlooked multiple classes. As it is only 1 class was overlooked. What the NCAA should have done was include class of 2022 then precisely NONE of this would ever have been an issue
