I would be okay with dropping the permanent cross divisional games although I will miss the Florida game. With 14 teams there needs to be a change.

I am absolutley not in favor of giving up the permanent cross-division game, it's one of the things that makes SEC football what it is. Bama/UT and UGA/AU have to play every year, period. What I would be in favor of, although I doubt it ever happens since it's so radical, is having 3 permanent opponents (regardless of division) then rotate everyone else. So in UGA's case, we would play UF, AU, and SC every year and the other 5 conference games rotate. You'd get to play everyone else in the league pretty frequently both home and away.

I agree with a 9 game conference schedule and to bring back the 2 cross-divisional game rotation and 1 permanent cross-divisional opponent.

Bama/UT
Maybe last century.
I get what you are saying. I was not bull shitting when I said I would miss the Florida game but we have 14 teams and the current system sucks. Let's get rid of Mizzou and one of the non founding SEC members and keep the same system.

No. No they don’t. We could move Alabama and Auburn to the East and Mizzou and Vandy to the West. Problem solved.

this is a laughably bad idea

I think the 9-game, 1 perm/2 rotating cross division opponents is the best way to go. That way every 4 year senior plays every school in the conference at least once. Plus its a better experience for fans so you can travel to all SEC stadiums on a regular basis instead of waiting 12 years between trips.

But forcing 10 teams into fake rivalries is a great idea.

East would be
VOLS
UGA
UF
Bama
Auburn
UK
SC
5/6 of the big 6 in one division
im sure anyone left in the West would love that

This is what needs to happen. It solves the rotation problem, doesn't require that we drive the collective league record down closer to .500 by adding another conference game, and also solves the occasional divisional imbalance problem (i.e., when you've got Missouri in the SEC title game, that's because you've got one division much weaker than the other).
A&M doesn't need to play Bama and Auburn every year--every other year would be just fine, if it means we get to play Tennessee, UGA and Florida every other year, too. Give us LSU and Arkansas, then we'll take Missouri (someone has to), and rotate the rest.
NCAA would have to change the conference championship rule, but if past experience is any indication, this is just a formality.

I want to keep it at eight games. Have either three or four permanent games and rotate the other five or four games. I am leaning to four and four.
The Pac went to nine games because they had trouble getting fannies in seats with an additional non-conference game.
The big ten went to nine games, why, I do not know. Probably for the same reason the Pac went to nine. I get the feeling their fans would like to go back to eight games.
The ACC kept it at eight games from the outset.

I’d rather play at Tennessee and Florida and Georgia more often. We get to travel to those schools like once every 8 years now with the current set up. Kinda makes it feel like we aren’t even in the same conference.

The math works best for three permanent opponents, and rotate the rest. It would be something like this for the permanent opponents:
Bama: Auburn, State, UT
Arkansas: Mizzou, A&M, LSU
Auburn: Bama UF, UGA
Florida: Auburn, UGA, USC
UGA: USC, UF, Auburn
Kentucky: Mizzou, UT, Vandy
LSU: A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas
Ole Miss: State, LSU, Vandy
Miss. State: Ole Miss, Bama, USC
Missouri: Arkansas, A&M, UK
South Carolina: UGA, UF, MSU
Tenn: Vandy, UK, Bama
A&M: LSU, Arkansas, Mizzou
Vandy: UK, UT, Ole Miss
Bama: Auburn, State, UT
Arkansas: Mizzou, A&M, LSU
Auburn: Bama UF, UGA
Florida: Auburn, UGA, USC
UGA: USC, UF, Auburn
Kentucky: Mizzou, UT, Vandy
LSU: A&M, Ole Miss, Arkansas
Ole Miss: State, LSU, Vandy
Miss. State: Ole Miss, Bama, USC
Missouri: Arkansas, A&M, UK
South Carolina: UGA, UF, MSU
Tenn: Vandy, UK, Bama
A&M: LSU, Arkansas, Mizzou
Vandy: UK, UT, Ole Miss

LMAO at Vince. He was scared shitless to play Bama back in the day.

He didn't make the SEC schedule or the rotation back in the 60's.
Gee,I guess Bama was scared "shitless" to play UGA back in the day as well.
Freaking idiot.
