Unless you’ve been a college athlete under the NCAA you wouldn’t understand...

I was. I also had some rather complex eligibility issues that weren’t related to grades that I prefer to not get into. It ultimately cost me my last two years of athletics. With that said, I don’t agree with pay for play, but I do agree with players being able to profit from their likeness if they are famous enough to do so. I admit that there are a ton of problems that will come with that and they will have to be planned for and amendments made along the way to keep things going in the right direction. Regardless, it should be done and the more power we can remove from the NCAA the better for the college athlete. That’s what should matter.

So when we have fan day, can the players charge money for their autograph? How about signing Jerseys and then selling them at Tide Pride/Tiger Fever?

That should be their choice. But why not if that’s what they chose to do? Put yourself in their shoes. Would you want someone telling you that you aren’t allowed to sign your own signature for money? The mass majority of student athletes have no where near a full ride.

Then you can pay for the tuition and all the other expenses with the money you make.

Do you really think the Alabama mens water polo team is going to get endorsement money from this? This is for the football and mens basketball teams only. And only a few of them.

removing authority from a VOLUNTARY association may be a short term benefit for SOME COLLEGE ATHLETES but it will be a long term detriment to ALL COLLEGE ATHLETES. college football is strong because of it's nation wide appeal. start letting boosters bid for the best guys and the sport will dwindle down to about 25 teams give or take a few.

Ok so what does that mean exactly? It’s not fair as it is. If you don’t think football players get preferential treatment at nearly every university across the country then you’re kidding yourself.

Tuition (many out of state), student fees, books, room/board, tutors, first class fitness trainers, personal nutritionists, all travel expenses and lodging.

A college education is worth over $100,000 these days, and the opportunity to be coached and showcased to the NFL is worth even more to the best players. Plus, in case any of you didn't know, they're being "compensated" for their services already in other ways.

CFB and CBB are already turning into professional sports, but it's about to be totally ruined. I like college sports because they are amateur sports. When they become professional sports I'll no longer be a fan. And I'm not alone.

The majority are not being forced to play sports in college.

Yes anyone can understand. I was a college athlete and you couldn't be more wrong. I was busier in high school because my sports overlapped. Anyone can profit from their likeness. No one is saying you can't. You just can't keep your eligibility.

Now I would support someone with a hardship getting extra money for clothes and other supplies.

Baseball/bowling/soccer/swimming/gymnastics/softball, etc. won't get shite.

Hell, a lineman won't get a dime. You think a right tackle wants to block for a QB that just filled his wallet with autograph money? Will RB#3 be willing to give 100% on the field when RB#1 just got bank to shoot a commercial for Gatorade?

At Alabama, LSU, auburn, etc. Those big universities are the exception to the rule, not the norm. There are hundreds of small schools you never hear about and those athletic departments struggle to make ends meet.
