From The Atlanta Constitution ("Dawgnation").........

Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks made it clear on Friday that Georgia is keeping all its options open regarding the future of its series with Florida in Jacksonville, Fla.

The city of Jacksonville and the Jaguars agreed to a new $1.4 stadium deal earlier in May that would have renovations completed in time for the 2028 season. But due to the construction, EverBank Stadium would be at a reduced capacity for 2026 and unusable for 2027
.

“Well, for the immediate we’ve got to look at other options, whether that’s home-and-home, whether it’s neutral sites,” Brooks said. “So we’re looking. We’re working with Florida to look at the options for those two years and then beyond that excited, once that construction’s complete, we’re excited to go back there and see the potential and opportunities to make it a really special game with what they’re talking about doing there. It looks like it’s going to be an amazing project.”

>>>>>> Possible neutral sites for the rivalry could be Orlando or Atlanta. A home-and-home series has long been pushed by Kirby Smart, with the idea that Georgia would benefit from the added recruiting weekend every two years. <<<<<<

Georgia revealed the projected ticket revenue for the Georgia-Florida game to be $4.2 million for the 2025 fiscal calendar. The highest revenue home game for Georgia in 2024 in terms of projected ticket revenue would be Auburn, which was listed at $5.24 million per the Georgia athletic budget.

Brooks did add that Georgia and Florida would work together in terms of finding a solution for the future of the rivalry.

“We’ll talk to them (the city of Jacksonville) about what’s available, but it’s something where we drive that ship,” Brooks said.

Construction on the proposed stadium would begin following the 2025 season. The proposed renovated stadium would seat 63,000, but it could expand to 71,500 to accommodate the Georgia-Florida game. The current capacity for EverBank Stadium is 67,838.

"Bold" is not only to make it easier for reading purposes, but when quoting from other sources, it is also italicized to differentiate from the writer's personal opinion.

Note that I had no personal opinion in the post.

You may go back to the rear of the class.

If this happened in the Red River Shootout, I would be torn..

Home & Home for 2 years would be awesome, but I'd be worried that it would stay as a home & home..

I'm not a big fan of Jerry World, but obviously that would be an option.. Perhaps you could do JW one year and NRG the next year. Don't love either of these options.. The comparable would be 2 of Atlanta, Carolina & Tampa? Atlanta would feel like a home game for the Dawgs..

Bottom line.. moving the game for even 2 years is playing with fire..

eta: could you possibly make it a split 50/50 type game in Athens & Gainsville? I actually like the idea of this.. it isn't "neutral" but at least it wouldn't be a true home game..

I’d rather never play Georgia again if this happened.

This has been done before with the WLOCP. It returned to Jacksonville and only until recently has there been talk of moving it to a home and home.

Smart's comments about missing a recruiting weekend every other year are true, but I'm beginning to think that was just Georgia messaging Jacksonville to sweeten the pot. A new stadium does that.

frick that. If y'all pull the game to North GA, I hope we have it in Miami.

Your fans will be begging for Jax. Esp the South GA fans.

Last time around (1996?) the home and home was a normal home game, not split. That’d be hard to do. It’d be cool though.

It won’t be surprising if th WLOCP doesn’t go home and home and stay. I hate it but it causes scheduling issues and impacts recruiting. I think it ends soon

Athens to Atlanta is about the same distance as Gainesville is to Jacksonville.

but Jacksonville is very close to the ga-FL border so close to a lot of UGA fans from southern GA

Atlanta is far from Gainesville/Florida border in comparison

So it's perfectly fine for UGA to travel from NE Ga. to Fl. as long as your Gators DON'T have to travel more than an hr. down the road?

Got it!

Both are 1 hr. away via driving, but Fl. fans see Atlanta as unfair to them.

Exactly.

The same season ticket holders who go to the games in Athens are the same folks who go to Jacksonville. Its just a smaller pool.

Athens ---> Atlanta = 72 miles
Gainesville ---> Jacksonville = 72 miles

Athens ---> Jacksonville = 340 miles (fair per Gators)
Gainesville---> Atlanta = 331 miles (UNFAIR per Gators)

Athens isn’t the only place that has UGA fans

I've never said it was.

But to claim that it's UNFAIR to travel more than an hr. away for a game yet expect the other team to do it.....*SMH*.
