God that FSU title game. It just felt inevitable from the start of the third quarter they had our number. Gus is probably still kicking himself to this day for taking his foot off the gas.

Disagree about Nebraska; they still made the title game. South Carolina should be 2013 Tennessee. I would think Oklahoma would be the Rose Bowl against Georgia

Yeah Nebraska's would be the 2009 Big 12 title game when the officials gave Texas an extra second on the clock.

I think Nebraska is 84 orange bowl. They kick the xp it’s a tie they probably win natty(at least a share). They went for it all and lost.

If we're going back that far then UF's would be getting spanked by unranked UGA in 1985 when we were ranked #1 in the AP poll.
The Cleat Yeat was maddening at the time but we wouldn't have made the playoffs anyhow since we still lost to Bama the next week.

Not even close for us. Any true Carolina fan will tell you it's Navy '84.

I think GA was ranked going into that game then fell out after losing a few games right after upsetting us. That tie to Rutgers in a home game that year was nuts. Rutgers I think only won 2 games that year.

I wonder what happens in the polls if we don't lose to UGA. Being banned from bowling didn't stop OU from finishing #1 in the AP in 1974 but they also won every game.

1984 Cotton Bowl vs Georgia. A late muffed punt allowed Georgia to score late and win, costing Texas a possible national title.

The Crabtree catch was annoying but it's probably 4th or 5th on the list...
I'm probably most pissed off about the 6 fricking turnovers (4 by McEachern alone) in the 1978 Cotton Bowl than anything else. It fricking cost Earl Campbell a national championship and that's what vaults it to the top of the list.
Similar story in the 1971 Cotton Bowl against the same shitbox Irish.
9 fumbles 5 lost + 1 interception.
You've got to be fricking kidding me 6 turnovers to the same shitbox Catholics in the same stadium 7 years earlier too? This one snapped the 30 game winning streak which yes would have only gotten to 34 but still frick that
1984 Cotton Bowl once again couldn't control the ball but this time only had 4 turnovers still tough to beat good teams like Georgia when you hand them the ball 4 times. But the manner of how we lost up 9-3 with 5 minutes to play then Craig Curry muffs the fricking punt TD Georgia game over 9-10 and the icing to that shite cake was scUM got their first championship
I put all 3 of those ahead of Crabtree.... And the Crabtree game is also right up there pretty much a peer to Greg Davis running Colt McCoy directly into Marcell Darius. Even the dumbest motherfricker on planet earth doesn't draw that play up but here we are.
