Not bagging on LF, but here are the current rushing defensive stats for those 5 teams.

Rushing defense ranking out of 128 teams:

Syracuse 58

Ea Mich 128

I feel bad for Lattimore because of the injuries. I think he had the skills to go down as a all time great but instead his injuries robbed him of the opportunity .

Wasn't even the best Florida running back in that time period.

With 4 regular season games left, Fournette only needs 247 yards to tie Smith's best season (1989).

Also of note, Fournette already has as many tds as Smith did in '89 (15) and averages 2.1 yards per carry more than Smith.

Syracuse was much higher pre LSU game. Not to mentionnisin current data is also taking into account the LSU game in each one. And Fournette went for over 200 on all those except MSU.

Someone made a thread the other day showing the stats pre playing LSU of those teams, I'll see if I can find it.

I'd be curious to see the rankings for the other players listed in their first 5 games. The fact that only Barry Sanders, Marcus Dupree, Herschel and Bo are the only other ones to do it tells me all I really need to know.

Just remember. When you out players in before they are done. You risk the possibility of them being injured and never able to return. There have been lots of players who were injured that "would" have made the "all time great" lists. Happens all the time. I think he could be in the top 5 when he is done. But I am not putting him there before he earns it and finishes his college career.

Fournette has had a great 6 games, against terrible competition outside Florida.

Oh the old "terrible competition" argument again. Do you realize his 228 yards against Auburn were compiled by the middle of the 3rd quarter? And that on top of his 244 against Syracuse he had an 87 yard TD called back for a penalty that had no bearing on the run? And that his season low yardage total is 150?

Who cares what the rushing defenses were ranked? I'm not going back to run those numbers for Rhett or Smith or Sanders or Bo or anything like that. People on here just want to be asses because LSU has a good player.

Nothin said on this board is going to affect whether he gets injured or not. Jinxes are not real

But I see your point and said I'm fine with waiting. But barring injury there is no question that Fournette is better. Their sophomore years don't even compare.

College performance. Not talking about what they did in pros.

Then why is Emmitt Smith anywhere near the top 5?

If we're talking about CFB only, i.e. leaving out any (good or bad) NFL...

Players to consider (stats, carried the team, feature role):
- Ronnie Brown AU
- Knile Davis UAr
- knowshown Moreno UGA

my P&G glasses pick f/needs to be considered: Jacob Hester

Can't really argue with that 5, agree E. Smith should be at top.

Because people like to romance what he did in college because of his pro career, even though he wasn't as good in college as Rhett, Anthony Dixon, Moe Williams or probably even Ken Darby.

Indeed. It's like some of these fricktards never watched college football until 2009.

That's fine, but you didn't state such in the OP. So I'm going by current stats and the old dreaded "eye test". Eye test by the way is what many commentators and analysts have used in comparing him to Herschel Walker. Who would you rank as the #1 SEC running back of all time? I would guess Walker. Am I correct?
