With all the talk of RBs this year, I would like to see everyones list of your top 5 SEC RBs over the last 25 yrs. (1989-2014). Just list players who played RB, no QBs.

Also list one SEC player who is currently playing now you think could enter your top 5 before they leave college.

1. Emmitt Smith
2. Darren McFadden
3. Shaun Alexander
4. Kevin Faulk
5. Carnell Williams

Could make top 5: Leonard Fournette

Edit. Made correction for 89-2014

Lattimore doesn't have the stats of some of those guys but I always thought he looked like one of the best runners Id seen.

Are we going by talent level, career achievements, just college performance, or what?

When healthy, yes. Unfortunately that is a small sample size.

How many of those running backs got to 1000 yards in the first five games?

Genuinely curious

Fournette is certainly on pace. I like his chances at 2k in a 12 game season.. he lost a game though.

There have been some damn good RBs come through the SEC. I would add Gurley but I am partial. I would also say LF because he just seems to get better every week.

I don't see any reason why Fournette shouldn't be in the top five right now. He absolutely is in my opinion. If you want to say it's too early for him to be #1 that's fine, but he is to me. I think he's the best since the mid 80's at least.

You were correct. I knew he left his Jr year but did poor math. Did not want to include 2015. So I should have said 26 yrs. LOL

I wanted to include Emmitt. OP prerogative.

I just looked up Lattimore's stats and found it interesting that Fournette has already run for 150 yards more this season than Lattimore's best season (1197 yards in 2010).

Because all those guys had long successful collegiate careers and Fournette has had a great 6 games, against terrible competition outside Florida.

If he keeps doing what he's doing he'll get there though, just relax.

So shitty that he got hurt.

He would've been ranked among the best

Compare each of their sophomore years.

ES best year was a junior when he went for roughly 1800 yards. Fournette very well could go over that as a sophomore.

I'm fine with waiting to say he's better, ok. That's cool. But when it's all said and done, barring injury, Fournette will be viewed as better.
