Hi do you judge someone like Trent Richardson who had ungodly highlight runs and great numbers but gets held out of discussion because

E Smith D McFadden S Alexander K Faulk C Williams List is good and LF I have no doubt will make it if he stays healthy. What about best backfield (McFadden, Jones & Hillis). Nutt should be denutted for not doing much better with those teams.

Wasn't mentioned as criteria now was it?

It should be an obvious one.

Oh the old "terrible competition" argument again. Do you realize his 228 yards against Auburn were compiled by the middle of the 3rd quarter? And that on top of his 244 against Syracuse he had an 87 yard TD called back for a penalty that had no bearing on the run? And that his season low yardage total is 150?

Yes, this happens to every good player that plays on good teams vs. bad ones. It's not like he's hurting in the carries department.

I agree.

McFadden
Faulk
Smith/Rhett
Cadillac
???

Do you judge based on per-game stats or what? It's hard to argue for some RBs when they were injury-prone or came on strong in the end of their career (Garrison Hearst).

While they aren't world beaters do you think having played LSU has something to do with these numbers. 300+ yards isn't good for anyone's average.

UF was giving up 90 yards a game until LSU over doubled that. I wouldn't be surprised if y'all dropped 5-10 spots, maybe more

There has been a bunch of good ones. Most people, including those that watched back then, don't realize how good of a running back Felix Jones was. And no one will remember Madre Hill. He was running all over the SEC his soph year before he blew out a knee. If im not mistaken he let eh SEC in rushing that year, 95 mairite? He would have been up there with McFadden Jones Davis in the SEC era for Arkansas.

To find an SEC back that's as good asFournette you have to go back to Bo and Herschel. He's definitely first on your list.

Hillis, Jones and Mcfadden were definitely the best backfield I've seen in college. Auburn has had some great two man combos, though. Ronnie Brown and Cadillac and didn't Bo team up with Little Train?

Lattimore doesn't have the stats of some of those guys but I always thought he looked like one of the best runners Id seen.

Latti is an amazing guy...so glad he's a Gamecock. He's on the advisory committee for our HC search...and I know w/o a doubt he will do everything in his power to do whatever is in the best interest of the program.

It's such a shame that he had to go thru one injury...worked his arse off to come back only to have another injury to the other leg. 49ers drafted him knowing there was a possibility he'd never play. (49ers draft a lot of Gamecocks for some reason) Sorry...didn't mean to ramble on.

The best I have seen in 25 years in the SEC.

Cecil Collins
DMac
Gurley
Faulk
S. Alexander

Of course total stats and career don't come in to play for this list. This is any RB I saw play during that time.
I was 20 years old back in 89 so this is my opinion on what I saw with my own eyes, not something I saw on youtube or what my Dad told me.

It s funny seeing some of you guys debate this topic that are still in their 20s.

Fournette is certainly on pace. I like his chances at 2k in a 12 game season.. he lost a game though.

I wonder if that lost game might hurt him in the Heisman race, if Boykin continues to put up big numbers and TCU makes the play-off...you gotta figure LF would've had at the very least 150+ (probably more, but I don't know how long they would've left him in that game)...if LF keeps it up, he should win regardless, but Heisman voters always seem taken by QBs leading undefeated teams towards a championship...

Because all those guys had long successful collegiate careers and Fournette has had a great 6 games, against terrible competition outside Florida.

I don't put LF in the top 5 just yet but there's no need to understate what he's done. He started only 7 games a year ago, playing behind two senior backs who are in the NFL, plus 7 games this year and he's already pushing 2400 yards. Better than your average bear.
