They structured each player's deal as a multi-year contract. Leave A&M, and you leave money behind.

That would be play for pay, and is still against ncaa rules. If a corporation or company contracts with a player to use his name or image, that's between the player and that company, and not a team or boosters.

This will all be shaken out. Right now, this year, there is obviously a lot of illegal goings on, and the NCAA is already investigating some of this.

They will improve no doubt but they will not be dominant like Alabama has been under Saban. Jimbo ain't Saban.

Last year they lost 1 in an all SEC schedule with far less talent that they will have in the future.

This year you lost 4 games and had the most talented/experienced team in the West.

I suspect what you'll really see is a lot of kids departing A&M after getting those contracts. A big initial payout, but go somewhere else to aim for those much more lucrative NFL spots.

It's Alabama's & Georgia's world right now. Everyone else is just living in it.

True. Alabama and UGA own college football right now. Who knows a few years down the road.

A&M is about to be an absolute force. Get the jokes in while you can I guess.

Makes sense. But sitting in the middle of the West is going to make it harder to be seen than Georgia at this point. That doesn't mean it can't be done, but talent in the SEC is just a part of why it works. Everyone has talent here.

That is such BS. People went to Bama because of Saban and becuz it’s Bama not because of $$$. A&M is literally buying their championship instead if doing things the right way !!!

Fisher lost starting QB in week two for the season. So went out and got an experienced backup and has the best QB since Manziel coming in to compete in the spring. Next season the expectations will be higher

I’d say the new big 5 for the next 5 years will be…

Bama
GA
Ole Miss
Ark
TAMU

In no particular order.

Getting a bunch of 5 stars doesn't always equal championships. In this entitled world we live in now its going to be hard to keep these kids happy enough to stay together.

A million times this. Hell, with the portal, I can see schools poaching players right after spring practice, to help themselves and frick their rivals.

This is the issue with recruiting mercenaries. They may choose to go with a better offer once they arrive. And that is not even considering the egos and issues so many kids at college with money to burn will end up facing.

A&M is incapable of rising above 2nd in the west during their best seasons. It’s who they are. It’s in their DNA.

How many schools have the kind of cash A&M have - or how many are willing to spend that kind of cash to buy players to win football games? It will be interesting to see who the powers of college football are in 5-10 years.

You’ll have a very small handful, probably less than 10, teams that will basically own college football in perpetuity unless some sort of reins are placed on NIL and the transfer portal. Even if one of the non-dominate teams gets a guy who turns out to be a stud, if one of the dominant teams decide they want him, all they have to do is come in and be able to offer him the moon in a NIL deal to get him to transfer.
