Alabama's atmosphere used to be absolutely electric. Man that place got loud. Now I have not been to Byrant Denny since the 2008 game against State, but I heard the atmosphere has really dialed back since a lot of fans are now "wannabe Bama fans" who don't understand tradition.
Screw the first-half crowd.

Sadly this is true of most stadiums, the average fans are being priced out and corporate sponsors are scooping tickets up
I think it’s less about this and more about lack of parity and offenses designed to work around the noise.
The rules don’t allow for this anymore, but I don’t think you’d ever see anything like this in this era of college football

I was in BDS when Arenas returned the punt for a TD vs. lsu - loudest I have ever heard - and I've been to some big games in red stick.

BDS has the best Pom Pom shakers. Grown men shaking Pom poms. Lol

Would not disagree totally. But the 2009 LSU game when Julio went down the sideline was the loudest stadium I have ever been In.
The crowd for the 2011 "Game of the Century" was incredibly loud beginning to end. Loudest I've heard a crowd in BDS sustain for a whole game.

Agreed. Auburn, LSU, and Florida are the most consistently loud. Night game Jordan Hare is pretty wild.

Lol Ikr? It's like they don't know that pom poms are for females and gay dudes. They're for cheerleaders. You will see grown arse hillbillies with a can of Skoal in one of their back pockets and a pom pom in the other one over there in alabama. They would get beaten up, made fun of, or get beaten up then made fun as well at lsu. Over there it's accepted and everyone does it and thinks it's cool. It's gay as hell and they act there's nothing weird about it. As LSU fans we were taught these things...men don't shake pom poms and you yell like a motherfrickin man to make noise. Grown arse men shaking pom poms...lol. it's just a very feminine thing to do.

There have been other notable games where the crowd has been electric. The 2010 Florida and Auburn games were very loud. So were the 2011 Arkansas and LSU games. I remember the 2015 LSU game very vividly and once the final of the Arkansas-Ole Miss game was known, the volume in that stadium cranked up to an 11 and remained there for much of the game.
Agree - when games are big and close it's generally a pretty loud place. It's not "on it's own louder than anywhere else" loud, but it's certainly not some wine and cheese thing.

Bama’s isn’t particularly loud. As others have said, it really isn’t part of the culture. I also think the steepness of the stadium hurts the overall atmosphere

From an outsiders perspective, yalls fans seem pretty different from how they used to be. Fans who actually know the sport are decent and you can tell they've been fans for a while. Then there's the other.

In the stadium or in general out and about?
I'm sure there a ton more Alabama "fans" around the country now than there were in 2007. Not really any different in the state and definitely no different on campus for games. The new "fans" in Oklahoma or Indiana or Texas buy a shirt online and that's the extent of their connection.
We still have lots of 'necks at games and wandering around, but it's the same necks that have been there since DuBose was around.

Might be the worst superlative list I’ve ever seen.

Tennessee listed at 7 is among the most bizarre things I’ve ever seen on these dumb lists.
95,000 mouth-breathers with an average BMI of 42 trying to suck in enough oxygen from the mountain air...not intimidating but it is loud.

I will never forget how loud it got for Florida in 05.
You are 100% correct. That may well be the loudest Bama game in history. It certainly was the loudest game I ever attended myself.

Miss St with a very respectable showing...
Factor out the cowbells and the ranking would be far different.

The loudest i can remember Davis Wade was 2010 against Arkansas when we made the last second FG to go to OT and in 2014 when we went up 21-0 in the first few minutes against #2 auburn when we were ranked #3.

The loudest single moment I’ve heard in tiger stadium was when we blocked that last second field goal against bama in saban’s return to tiger stadium in 08.
The loudest game overall was probably vs Florida in 2007. That was an absurd atmosphere from beginning to end.

I mean, UGA-ND from 2019 is what home field advantage in college football is about. I seem to remember like 4-5 false starts by ND and multiple TO's called due to noise. Team played like dook and I'm not sure we win without the crowd that night.

2003 UGA - LSU is the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever been a part of as far as college football.
Just unreal.
I remember Georgia fans talking to me on the way out saying how incredible the feeling of the game was even though they lost.
