The hillbilly bowl is a game of mutual respect. There's no reason for one schools team/fans to try and out hillbilly the other, because it would end in a draw and they know it would he a futile attempt. I mean seriously, neither school from that arse backwards state has any class, so they're pretty much the same. They're all related amin some form or fashion lol. It's a family affair, literally. "I just have too much bama in me", hahaha, it's so true. Stay classy, you bama redneck motherfrickers, stay classy.

You are from Louisiana.

And your point is? Don't make me post some of the shite that your bama residents have done in the past. Yall are like fricking cavemen. You have zero class. You have nothing but bama football to live for in your shitty state. Bama doesnt have anything on louisiana. Sure, we tiger fans love us some LSU, but we have lives outside of it. We actually have other shite to do here besides that. I can name alot of things the great state of louisiana has that alabama doesn't. You have a hillbilly arse nascar track, which louisiana doesnt, that's it. Louisiana has alot of room to talk when comparing the two states. Alabama is nothing but a bigger mississippi. Louisiana > alabamastan on many levels.

I think it ratcheted up when Georgia broke out Soulja Boy in 2007.

My little brother played for Auburn in the late 90’s. All the players knew each other. It was competitive, but it wasn’t hate like the fans carry.

It's not really chippy off the field either. I've been to over a dozen Iron Bowls in Legion Field, Bryant Denny and Jordan Hare and never had an issue with auburn fans. I hate them but we're usually pretty cordial to each other

Yeah, the players in the IB seem to have no ill will toward each other, which is nice to see.

No way. It has been clean my entire life (basically since I became aware in 1990ish at least).

I honestly can't remember a single dirty hit or continuous fighting/acting like an idiot moment in the last 25 years. Now, I'm sure they have happened and I'm just forgetting, but that game is almost always played up to the whistle and no further.

^ This. I remember getting a group of AL fans car started after an Iron Bowl in Bham.....yeah it was a piece of shite car but we were college students too. Hell of a look they gave us when it fired up and we gave them a war eagle. Engineers oh well.

Lousyana is the biggest dump I've ever been too, I live in east Tennessee around a bunch of Vol fans who hate everything Alabama and they say they never wanna go to Lousyana again.

At least the ones that I remember. The fans hate each other sure but I don’t recall the players ever talking much trash or getting in scraps on the field.

Despite the reputation, even the fans, at least the ones who attend the games have always been quite civil. In fact, both fan bases are usually "gentle folk" toward all, relatively speaking.

you moron, what do you not understand about the first play of the game? AU got the ball first and 10 seconds into the game Rambo got a personal foul.

The thing with Auburn & Alabama fans is that there are a lot of families with split fandom. There are Alabama & Auburn fans in the same family.

The same with husbands and wives; sometimes one pulls for Auburn & one pulls for Alabama. Usually the wife has the upper hand on who the kid will pull for.

We live together all year long, & have to get along. Just that the winner gets bragging rights for a year.
