Florida with a spread offensive style is the counter to Saban

I'm 31. I think I can remember a few years ago.
2010 and 2009.
The year we put a pro style offensive cord at the helm.
Now see what happened the two years before, when we had a spread cord?
Mac can only win with superior talent, I don't know a single time he has outcoached a better team on paper. Maybe Georgia two years ago? Maybe?

quote:I agree with this to a certain extent. Auburn is a tough matchup right now, plus they'll only get better next year. Florida isn't scaring anyone with the team they currently have, but their future potential is scary. I think a lot of fans (and Nick Saban) are watching closely and concerned Florida might hire someone competent for a change. The same concern should be there for Texas A&M and Tennessee as well. These are big time programs with the money to attract big name coaches.
Auburn or Florida. They are the scariest teams to Bama.

Hopefully he will replace Saban when he retires. I bet your opinion of her m would change real fast .

Holy shite, no one should be this angry at your age. At this pace you're going to stroke out at 40 son.

McElwain was a strange hire from the start, but Jeremy Foley is a disaster. UF fans thought he was great because he hired Myer and Billy Donovan, like those were tough picks. He also hired Zook, Muschump, and shark-fricker.

Even Urban Meyer was really a Bernie Machen (former UF president) hire more than a Foley hire. If Foley had his way, who knows who he would have gone after... Petrino?

Petrino would be lights out there with a good dc.
I'd have banged her, too, Bobby.

'administrators" have no business getting involved in football matters. if that continues to go on then florida football will suck for awhile

Two stories here. McElwain the consummate a-hole or Florida's meddling AD.
Not sure what is more true.

MCElwain was no good for UF, he was in over his head. I can admit that and state that Nuss damn sure didn’t help matters. Jim didn’t have the personality or experience to lead a program of that caliber.
But Spurrier offering “help” in the line of dropping off play calls and schemes is too much. Let the staff sink or swim on their own. Stopping by the damn press box are throwing out one of his smart arse remarks is over the top.
And Foley’s involvement should have disappeared when he clean out his office.
McElwain & staff needed to go, but so does Spurrier &Foley.

Bingo. Just because there are two sides to every story, doesn’t mean both sides
weren't wrong. The meddling will keep Florida from getting a top tier coach unless
the new coach is given complete control. We’ll see.

I think they make a good point about spurrier. He's certainly earned the right to work for florida but it is nothing but a distraction. I remember asking a Georgia fan what was wrong with them during the Goff years and he said Dooley having his office next door to Goff. If mcelwain asks spurrier then fine but spurrier has no business going to Mac to suggest things.
When the day comes that Saban retires, I'd walk him to the door if I'm Greg Byrne and put him on the plane. No AD job, no special counsel, no fundraising. Nope, thanks coach and we'll see you when we honour the 2015 national champs. Spurrier AND Foley need to move on as well. If not give Foley back the AD and spurrier the hc job.

sounds like Florida has the same problems as Texas.

Takes two to tango, not saying the FL AD, admin etc were totally innocent... but McElwain is one weird dude that magnifies issues with his offsetting personality.
People you like get hall passes and/or are able to avoid situations developing into bigger problems.
Goofball dbags just poor gas on their own fires.

Fair enough. I see it as a positive, but others may few it as a negative. Foley being around worries me more than Spurrier personally.

Who's angry? I'm having fun.
But.
I have had diabetes since I was three. Ride motorcycles almost every day. Smoked for ten years. Drank way to much in college(my nickname in the dorm was handle because I walked around with whiskey all day). I run my own business but am supporting my GF and her kid with down syndrome as she gets her doctorate, which means I work far more than I should. My football teams both suck arse.
Anger is the least of my problems.
However; go big or go home.

The dumb thing with Spurrier is he continues to say that he wants to still coach, but he doesn't want to do all of the work in college football anymore (recruiting, etc), so he wants to do something offensively in high school, maybe a qbs coach.
Sounds like a guy that needs to be politely nudged out to me by Florida.
If you have a bunch of hands in the pot, you're unlikely to cook up something that works. The Braves are dealing with this now, and it sounds like Florida is too.
