Sounds like you guys are having a rough time with the offensive line. Any concerns or you think you will be fine with what you have in SEC play?

Razorbacks continue shuffle offensive, defensive lines

FAYETTEVILLE -- Arkansas Razorbacks defensive tackle Austin Capps has moved to the offensive line at left guard, completing a chain reaction that started earlier in the week with Razorbacks left guard Hjalte Froholdt practicing at center and Razorbacks defensive end McTelvin "Sosa" Agim practicing at defensive tackle.

Capps, a 6-4, 311-pound junior from Star City, opened preseason at backup defensive tackle after missing spring ball because of hernia surgery. Head coach Chad Morris confirmed Capps scrimmaged at backup left offensive guard on Saturday behind redshirt freshman Kirby Adcock.

Previously first-team left guard Froholdt snapped all first-team from center. Agim has played more defensive end than tackle, but scrimmaged on Saturday at tackle.

Capps' move to the offensive line comes in the wake of incumbent left tackle Colton Jackson being ruled out until midseason because of back surgery in July. Other missing linemen include reserve guard Jalen Merrick, suffering from an apparent concussion; reserve guard Deion Malone, who had season-ending knee surgery; and freshman offensive lineman Ryan Winkel, shoulder injury.

Dylan Hays opened the preseason as the first-team center, but now is behind Froholdt. Hays returned Saturday after missing five practices with an ailing back.

Its going to be a huge weakness. It was a weakness last year and the starting LT is already gone. Numbers and depth are low.

Maybe Morris can gameplan around it, but how much can you gameplan around a poor OL?

Short Summary: Its a train wreck and we'll likely be looking for a walk on by the time we hit SEC play.

Interestingly, we're not in terrible shape anywhere else. Defense should be a bit better, skill positions are ok with the exception of QB fit to system, but he's got plenty there to choose from.

For all Bert's bluster about the O-Line and flying first class...yada yada...he left the O-Line in horrible condition.

O line will be very bad. It'll cost us a couple games.

Lots of quick passes...and starting a mobile QB if you have one, basically it

Kelley is going to get sacked 4 times a game behind this OL

The blocking schemes that Morris runs are not complicated. I think that is why you see them making changes this late in the pre-season.

OL is going to be a big problem unless some of the guys with no experience like Merrick and Capps turn out to be amazing.

We have a few young QBs that have good wheels, there's some reason to believe Morris is looking for one of them to come in as a change of pace QB. I'm guessing that has a lot to do with OL concerns, maybe wanting to have an option other than CK standing in the pocket against some of the more talented defensive lines.

Ole Miss was in a similar spot in Freeze’s first year. We had a walk-on starting and the 3/5 of the 2nd string were walk-ons. We were still able to find some success due to quick passes and simple schemes. Morris can probably get by but the scheme will be too simple to make a dent in a good defense.

We are going to lose a lot of games this year but it will give a lot of players opportunity to play. We basically drained the swamp and its going to take time to fill it back up with quality players/staff etc.

A lot of Hog fans think our defensive is going to be good.. I just don't see it though this first year.

Is Morris going to try to play up tempo on offense this year? I assume so. If the defense is your strength this year, that could turn out poorly. If the offense struggles behind a weak O-Line, that defense will get worn down quickly.

Morris has stated he will play tempo. Not uptempo; not down tempo. It will vary depending on situation.

League should pass a "Bert rule" allowing Arkansas Oline to hold, tackle, leg sweep or whatever is needed to slow down the defender. If anything for the health and safety of our QBs and RBs, and to keep the games interesting. Teams such as Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, and Miss State could apply for exemptions.

I'm sure the A&M defensive ends will be running rampant in the backfield once again to make it seven in a row. Y'all better step it up in recruiting here pretty soon or Chaggie won't last three years. A&M has put it on you six straight times and is currently recruiting at new heights.

We're actually doing quite well in recruiting by Arkansas standards, but I do appreciate the concern.
