How many coaches have signed contracts with their current school when they bolt for a better job ? All of them. Treating a player differently won’t fly.

dozens of coaches break their contracts every year in this sport.
its actually a pivotal part of the game that it happens.
w/o contract breakers the coaching changes board wouldnt even be a thing.

Buyouts…verbiage in their contracts. Williams signed with stipulations that he agreed too.

universities are just upset that they can’t collude to skirt labor laws anymore.
Why the Big 10 thinks their contract supersedes Washington law is beyond me.
Imagine writing a contract for 14 states and thinking it will be valid everywhere.

Coaches don't have a court settlement that grants them the right to transfer every year and prevents the university from making any move to impede that decision

If he owes money back to Washington, LSU will just pay it. Since he signed a few days ago, he may not have gotten anything. Maybe some type of signing bonus.
A court preventing him from playing is fairy tale.

tampering
Why do people even bother throwing this term around, anymore?
Was it tampering when Matt Campbell gutted Iowa State's roster and took it to Penn State?

No it’ll more likely end up as a tampering issue like Bama went through with Iowa where Iowa wasn’t allowed to sign Kayden Proctor.

How is that enforceable? The only thing UW can do is sue for damages. Good luck proving damages in court when he withdrew 4 days into the portal period.

That is not true. He transferred to Iowa and signed and NIL agreement and then when the portal opened again in April he transferred back to Alabama. Stop making sheet up and get your facts straight. If he had not transferred back he would have played at Iowa.

Pushing this will end up worse for Washington than LSU.
Too bad they can’t legally do that.

The BIG has standardized language in their NIL agreements and is apparently standing behind Washington's position.
Washington has a valid contract which covers his NIL. He cannot market those same NIL rights to another party without violating the existing contract, or Washington lets him out of the contract, which they aren't doing. IF LSU's actions prevents him from performing under the Washington contract, that is on LSU.

1) The buyout in the contact reads the cost of the buyout is in the “sole discretion” of Washington.
So Washington can say Williams owes them a billion dollars for a buyout and you think that will fly lol?

Contracts override just about anything else. This will never make it to the Supreme Court, but if it did I guarantee they’d rule in favor of enforcing the contract.

Yet a Wisconsin player signed with them a year ago and then withdrew from school and signed up as a student at Miami. Walks on to the football team and is starting for Miami tonight. Not a word has been said about it by the national media.

And my understanding Young has a NIL deal with Miami also.
A player can sign 20 nil deals, what matters is where he is enrolled at when the 2026 season starts.
Washington has no recourse on Demond move, which is proven by the Young case of Wisconsin and the University of Miami.
Also where is the super outcry on this event last year and why has Miami not been disqualified or had to forfeit all the games that player has played in this season?
It is because NIL deals are media type deals, non-binding until a payment has been made.
