Lane could have let it be known to LSU officials that he would leave OM at the end of OM's playoff run and insisted that LSU keep everything on the down low until after OM's playoff run was over.
No LSU couldn’t afford to wait on it 6 weeks. They would have lost half their signing class and got blown up in the portal.

Once again waiting till after the playoffs was NOT an option. LSU couldn’t wait 6 weeks without naming a coach considering signing date , portal , etc.
