Drink isn't the end all be all. He recruits in the low 20's and hits the portal hard. He's 7-16 vs the top 25. That's not awesome for an $11M dollar coach

I agree. Drink is a good coach, but he's also been a tease. Maybe he can improve and finally start winning some big games at Mizzou. Maybe not. In any case, by no means do I think Drink should be fired. Absolutely not. I think it's silly to fire a good coach because they're close, but not quite reaching the level you want them to reach. I just don't think it would be the End of the World if he leaves for another job.

I think Drink is replaceable. Meaning, it's reasonably possible Mizzou could hire a replacement who is at Drink's level. But there are no guarantees. Mizzou is totally capable of fumbling the hiring of a new HC.

P.S. I think Drink's salary is $9 million, not $11 million. Maybe he renegotiates and gets $11 million this season. Who knows?

I’m not sure Franklin isn’t better,

If Drink leaves I'd take Franklin in a heartbeat. Franklin might want to go to a place like Mizzou because having a single disappointing season wouldn't get him fired. Most bluebloods have unrealistic expectation these days.

Thanks for your service. If you need a job, I need someone to paint my house.

He doesn't need a job. He's got fat stacks of cash from all the wins he gets day trading. At least that's the story he tells people.

A: Brian Kelly’s resume when LSU hired him

If you go by official records, Kelly was 141-62 because he had two season's worth of wins vacated.

Dealing with NIL and the portal are absolute nightmares and being a college coach is a 24/7/365 job. I think there's definitely an improvement in QoL when you're an NFL coach.

NFL free agency is like NIL and the transfer portal, but with actual contracts. Players can't just leave at a moment's notice.

Crazy plots and very entertaining. Writer is a genius. It's a bit crazy because none of this would really happen in real lif.... ohhhhh.....

LSU now stands for Landry State University.

No other AD in history can come anywhere close to matching that.

He's doing this the American way, failing his way to the top.
LSU is on its way to becoming Nebraska and they refuse to believe it.

He's going to win this game and be a shoe in for the playoffs.

No chance does Florida pick him up if he can make the playoffs at Ole Miss.

We're going to wind up with Drink (who has only won 1 significant game) or some mid-level P5 coach.

I feel like an A&M fan. Furk.

Florida is like the Dallas Cowboys. Big name program, but upper level management is dysfunctional as frick. They'll never return to prominence until they clean house at the top. Getting a new head coach isn't nearly enough.

If Drink takes the Florida job he'll regret it. He's the king in Missouri. He'll be looking for a new job in 5 years if he goes to Florida.

How did BAMA lose to FSU??

It was week 1 and CFB has no preseason. It's weirder than week 1 in the NFL.

I think your list is missing LSU. And Illinois didn't play this week.

Nebraska is pointing out that they had pushed back the series twice due to Tennessee's request but the Vols weren't willing to do the same. I wonder how true that is

That might be true, but even if it is, it wasn't because Tennessee is afraid of a Nebraska juggernaut. It's not the 1990s anymore.

Yeah!

You did something even Auburn couldn't do!
I don't know WTF is going on with ESPN BPI. Mizzou is still at #32 after this game. At this point it feels like Mizzou could beat Auburn by 40 and still not move up in BPI. Something about BPI just hates the way Mizzou plays.

Good game Mizzou. Congrats.

That was hard to watch as an Alabama fan. This is not a knock against Missouri. But allowing 59 points in the first half against a team that averages 82 points per game is just lack of effort and/or focus. The most points Missouri has scored in any other SEC game is 83 points.

Mark Sears scored 35 points.

When your point guard scores 35 points he isn’t being a point guard.

You might want to recheck those box scores.
Mizzou with just one point less than the combined Arkansas/Auburn score at halftime. I can live with that.

Not even BPI is that down on Mizzou. They have Mizzou finishing roughly 21-10.

Even then Mizzou is basically one win away from being a lock.

Looking at each individual game, BPI has Mizzou favored to win in only 1 of their final 7 (at home against South Carolina). Every other game is predicted to be a loss.

I've not met anyone that considers BPI superior to KenPom, Torvik or EvanMiya. And if I ever do I'll assume they are somehow getting paid by ESPN.

ESPN finally rectified their train wreck of BPI based projections, at least. They had Mizzou with a 90% chance to dance even before tonight.

Sure, but they exist all the same. And they predict Mizzou to finish the regular season 1-6.
