Yes, their conference made a bad deal with ESPN and got locked into a shitty contract thru 2036. That shitty contract may be their undoing as it might be more lucrative in the long run to leave the ACC, take the hit on revenue now, and make it up on the back end with a better deal in the SEC. Who knows, if it's UNC or another big market team, ESPN might help soften the blow to leave the ACC and join the SEC. Nobody and nothing is safe in the current climate.

Correct, 2022 is an election year and Abbott will be challenged in the primary. I really don't think it matters.

My feelings have changed as of this morning. I believe it is inevitable as it appears to be what Disney/ESPN want...and he who writes the checks makes the rules.

If I'm not mistaken, the Okie state legislature put the kibosh on OU leaving OSU behind regarding any conference moves some years ago.

that was address, was more of a gentlemans agreement with former president of OU. not anymore.

Lubbock, Waco, and to a lesser extent Ft. Worth all benefit economically in a significant way from hosting P5 football games.

AAC fanbases and AAC matchups aren't going to send tens of thousands of fans, plus major media coverage, College Gameday, etc. to spotlight the towns, stay in hotels, and spend money at local businesses. That's going to be a big hit to local economies. You bet your arse their representatives are going to get involved.

Add fan blowback from all 3 of those fanbases plus A&M on top of that, and yeah, a governor who prevents it from even being discussed by refusing to intruduce the topic to an ongoing special session is going to feel the heat.

He did. He's also a politician that needs votes. And A&M, Tech, Baylor, and TCU combined have a lot of votes statewide. The governor that relegates all 3 of the lesser Big 12 programs to a minor conference is going to feel it on election day. Maybe primary day. Safest thing to do politically IMO is to punt to the legislature and let the chips fall where they may.

At the end of the day what exactly is he going to do? Texas A&M was allowed to leave but Texas can't?

A&M was allowed to leave once UT and OU agreed to stay and keep the Big 12 alive as a major conference. That's not an option this time around. If OU and UT leave, the Big 12 is dead. Or officially relegating to minor conference status. There will be no saving it.

If you think this hurts Abbots reelection chances next year, you have to be kidding. There is a reason a high profile Democrat has yet to announce he/she is running next year and the Democrats running off to DC and the resulting egg on their face PR fallout has virtually assured Abbot will win big next fall.

It's fantasy island like stuff thinking this is going to end up on the agenda for special session. Were Longhorn Alums/ Officials/ Fans, etc. calling for a special session when you aggy left? Nope. They said don't let the door hit you on the arse on the way out.

Here's an idea....

I'm going to ask my local Rep to introduce a bill requiring A&M to be readmitted to the Big 12... Their move to the SEC DID NOT pass the standards they are now requiring for the University of Texas, so it should immediately be voided and require legislative approval for a move to another conference.

You see how ridiculous you and you other aggy wieners sound?

Its not us pushing for this stuff. Its alumni of programs yall are leaving behind. All we did was blow the whistle and let them know what is going on cause yall like to do sneaky shite (compared to when A&M went to the SEC and it was an open secret for a year).

ALL ACC TEAMS ARE LOCKED UP UNTIL 2035 and MAKE NO FINANCIAL SENSE BECUASE OF THAT!!

There's UCF! But Florida will block any Florida school from coming to the SEC.

This is just the start. Baylor and their army of lawyers have not weighed in yet.

Don't forget all the headaches they caused during the last realignment.
