Texas nor any college owes any of the members of a conference anything to the level that legislation should be used to "prevent" them from making the best decision for themselves as an entity. The schools are not moving; they are only changing conferences.

Lol. Like Boxer said. It ain't us. I'm just pointing out that there's no way UT is going to tapdance their way out of fhe Big 12 without a fight. Hell, Baylor tried to sue the SEC and every single member institution to try to block us from leaving.
Look, I don't want UT in the SEC. I like the niche we have carved out for ourselves as the Texas SEC program. But it's not the end of the world if UT follows in our footsteps. We're already here. But if you think everyone is just going wish you luck and wave while you blow up the Big 12 and relegate 3 other in-state programs to mid-major status, you're fooling yourself.

Good luck trying to do something in the legislative branch before the 2022 session.
As far as legal approaches, what can they do beyond follow the GOR as stated in the B12 bylaws? It’s not like they can get an injunction to stop either school from actin their own best interest.
Funny enough, if they press the issue there is some arguments to be made that since the GOR was not approved through the legislature it would not be binding as it is… Push this too far and Texas fights back with the idea that the GOR is null and void anyways and we are leaving now with no penalty and the B12 is now dead and so is the B12 media deal…
I don’t necessarily agree with the premise, but does the other schools want to risk 2 or 3 more years of a nice payout to try and fight it out with Texas over something like this?

Texas made this harder on themselves by propped up TCU all those years ago. That is three programs in the state they are fricking, even if they get away with it at first that means something down the road the university wants isn’t going to happen. Texas will have to use real political capital to pull this off for a conference that was beneath them ten years ago.
