Greg Sankey has kept informed SEC presidents as talks with Texas & OU grew serious, sources tell
@SINow
.

Presidents can immediately take action after UT/OU notify the Big 12 of exit & submit an application for membership.

11 votes are needed. Only one (A&M) seems in opposition.

Texas & OU are prepared to wait until their Grant of Rights expires in 2025 to join the SEC, instead of paying the $70 exit fee, sources say.

But could the dissolution of the Big 12 impact that?

The breaking apart of the conference would only help UT & OU quickly join the SEC.

That's weird. So they're planning to play in a lame duck conference with one foot out the door for 3 or 4 more years?

Sucks to be too poor to do what you want when you want. I guess that's why they need the SEC.

that will pressure the dissolution of the conference which will negate the fees....

logically all the teams left will search out their escape routes to avoid being left holding the bad with no where to go.

Smart move....

So the Aggies have a few more seasons to win a natty in football
Can't imagine they will stay until 2025, only reason would be to avoid lawsuits

We can lend them $70 if they’re hurting for cash that bad

I dont think anyone really expects that to happen. Delly was on Cullota this morning and he said 2023 would be possible. Jordy thought 2022. Plus, if there is no more Big 12 then there is no one to pay money to, other schools apparently are already making calls as well

When they put in their notice, other teams will be looking to leave. Once they have a couple more leaving they won’t have to pay anything and will join much sooner than 2025.

I really hate the way A&M lost the narrative here from the start.

By coming out the gate and saying they want to be the only Texas school--- they have really turned what could have been a moment of triumph into a moment of weakness.

Now, thanks to their public statements, either:

A) They look weak as frick, getting overridden after the public statements.

B) They somehow sabotage this, looking like tantrum throwing toddlers.

Out of all the ways to approach this, it seems the Aggies took the most emotional and least rational approach.

Cool. As long as the negotiaions were above board and A&M kept in the loop, I have no issue with anything. Bring 'em on.

In that case, Texas leaking that A&M was kept out of the loop is just proof that they're petty bitches looking for Twitter points. Pathetic, but not unexpected.

It’s called legal maneuvering genius.. this will happen much sooner once other teams find landing spots..
TBD how many teams it will take to dissolve the conference..

Then why is all of this happening now and not two years from now? And why all the haste to move the process so quickly.

Are they really going to be voted into the conference in the next two weeks and then spend four more years in the Big 12 like

So isn’t there suppose to be a vote by the schools to allow for Texas and OU?

We’re now expecting that to pass?

And if it doesn’t it seems like they’re joint anyways?

This is a shite show.

Because it is not going to take that long. They will be in the SEC by 2023 i think. The Big 12 is going to fold soon.

Imagine that, Aggie trying to make a false narrative because they’re scared of Texas.

Not sure what is wrong with A&M wanting to be only team from Texas in SEC. gators feel EXACTLY the same about Florida State. Was a hot topic here 4-5 years ago.

According to Dellenger, the only potential no is A&M. Listen to Jordy Cullota this morning and I would say that Dellenger's source is Sankey, he had a interview with him 1 hour after the news broke the other day.
