Tell Us a story about why you LOATHE the NCAA

I’ll start. In the early 80’s one of the LSU basketball players died of cancer and the NCAA prohibited LSU from traveling to Missouri ( As I recall ) for the funeral on the school dime . Feckless bureaucrats. That anybody ever saw these guys as anything other than a self- interested money and power grab amazes me.

NC State has a story to tell.

The UGA lineman that couldn’t play because of the surgery 4 years earlier kept some level in his blood above the prohibited level.
The cam Newton investigation being opened and closed within 24-48 hours while the Miami investigation lasted 4 years.
Etc…

Have a friend who works for the NCAA (watches how the money moves in the betting world to look for possible irregularities). Asked him how on earth they did not nail Auburn over Cam Newton. He laughed and said the enforcement side of the house had no real power. As long as schools stuck to their guns and nobody rolled over on them there was no real way to catch the cheaters. TL;DR the NCAA has no cajones.

NCAA banned MSU from participating in an invited to Coaches vs Cancer basketball tournament because they did not like our state flag which we had nothing to do with.
Also, an investigation into recruiting violations based on internet rumors which after 3 years, they admitted to finding little and I quote “This investigation began off the back drop of internet rumors and innuendos”
Afterwards, they proceeded to hammer us anyway because, as the media said, they had destroyed recruiting after spending 3 years on campus and needed to save face.

They ruined college sports period. The corruption of allowing some to get away with whatever vs hammering others to appear to doing something.
The fact that 2 schools could commit the same "crime" and one get hammered and the other a slap on the wrist with a wink...
What they did to SMU for the sake of an example while others walked free.
They ruined sports.

1. Uneven enforcement.
2. No due process.

Jerry Tarkanian once quipped "the NCAA was so mad at USC they gave Cleveland State another year of probation".

The ncaa gets all pissy when I deliver chargers and bags of cash to Bama players. But I just pay them off so it’s all good.

quote:There was a similar situation with Bama around 86. A player was killed in a car accident a week before the season opener. Perkins flew the team to the funeral (on the way back from the Kickoff Classic) and dared the NCAA to say something about it.

The Albert Means investigation. Tennessee fans will be quick to point out that Spurrier turned Alabama in (a factoid that lacks basic evidence), but ignore the fact that he wasn't trying to pay for the services of Albert Means. Tennessee, however, was and Fulmer admitted to the NCAA as much. That in itself is a major violation. But the NCAA allowed Fulmer and Tennessee to turn state's evidence as a secret witness because Fulmer was pissed off that he kept losing blue chip recruits in the Memphis area to Alabama. Ultimately, Fulmer was shortsighted and his decision to testify against Alabama ended up working against him. Tennessee hasn't been able to recruit the same since that particular time.

North Carolina basketball STILL hasn't been charged. Self explanatory.

As a historical footnote:
The Great Pumpkin was just terminated because the NCAA found far more in those McDonald's bags than happy meals.
Ain't life ironic?

The Ncaa investigator that turned the milage back on the car during your investigation is the same Ncaa investigator we had pulling bs like that. I member

They spent a lot of time and resources investigating Donte Moncrief when he was here because he borrowed his brother’s car. They threatened to rule Moncrief ineligible for all of 2013 if his brother didn’t turn over financial records proving he could afford a nice car. His brother was a successful barbershop owner in Hattiesburg at the time so he could easily afford it and proved it out and threatened legal action. Just one of many investigations that went nowhere during their 6 year stint on our campus.
