I think similar things are happening with Alabama on our run plays. I wonder if we are tipping them somehow or if the play call is just that obvious because when we run it just really feels like defenses are keyed in on it.

And with Oklahoma coming up, that's a recipe for disaster.

Maybe our lineman just suck that bad. I've seen some bad O Lines in the past, but never this bad.

A lot of our better runs have been off misdirection; we've hardly seen any of them in the past few games, just this Darby up the Middle shite.

Maybe also run from 3 and 4 WR sets so the defense can't sit on the run.

The Bama-SC game last year had a similar situation. We were up by 2 (I think), with ~2 minutes left. We broke a long TD pass. So now we're up by 9.

We're good, right?

Wrong, SC scored a quick TD and then, with ~1 minute left, recovered an onside kick. Bama had to make a last minute INT to win the game.

Afterwards, people mentioned that if the WR had just taken a knee inside the 5, we could have run out the clock.

This year, though, the situation was just different enough that the same logic doesnt quite work. We could have stopped at the three, run the clock down, and tried for a game winning FG. But our kicker had already missed one FG that day. And given that the OL had been shaky all game, there was a higher than average chance of a block. So there was no valid reason for us NOT to score the TD.

SC, however, was out of timeouts, and there was under a minute left. Letting us score was a bad percentage move.

Alabama's been doing the same. I know a lot of Tide Pride members who have said ENOUGH, and cancelled their memberships.
