Full disclosure-- I was rooting for Florida that day.
I was 9-years-old, growing up in Gainesville. I have vague memories of watching Georgia run up and down the field like it was a track meet.
Fortunately, I eventually saw that light that was Athens, Georgia, and matriculated north, became a Bulldog, and I've never looked back.

Ole Miss and my kids both go there. They would both go to LSU if the out of state tuition wasn’t so stupid. I told them when I dropped them off at college that I was only coming to visit them every other year when they played LSU.

Memphis is one of those teams you just dont honor a home and home with. it legitimizes them and you can find rent-a-wins all over the place.

only downside when you play them in memphis.

Our previous AD scheduled a home and home with them. Current AD bought them out and moved the game in Memphis game to St. Louis. Progress!

I will always hate UF the most.

Nothing can really quite describe the hell it was to grow up in the 90's, watching UF and Spurrier beat the Dawgs every single year.

It was one thing to just know you were going to get beat by a superior team, but it became untenable when the 2000's rolled around and UGA had a better team several years only to have the wheels fall off time and again in Jax.

Then, when Tebow and co. showed up and all the revolting walmart bandwagoneers traded their Miami jerseys for the orange and blue it was just too much.

Now, almost 20 years later, with the Dawgs on top of the world, the bandwgoneers sniffing Saban's jock, and the gators writhing in a swamp of self-loathing mediocrity, (where they rightfully belong), we could beat them 100 more times in a row by 100 points and I would still hate them.

GT is second because they just suck and their "fans" are insufferable.

Top 10
#1 Ohio State - Seriously, the biggest a$$hole fan base
#2 UCLA - Wooden cheated his arse off and kept all the banners
#3 USC - When you cheat at women's soccer you have lost institution control
#4 Duke - Can't fault academics but Yankee slum school in the South and cheat
#5 UNC - Worst academic cheating scandal and they let Dean keep the banner
#6 Baylor - So much criminal stuff yet they did not get shut down, rape leaders
#7 Taters - sheep humpers
#8 Free Shoes - seems obvious
#9 Iowa - like Ohio State Lite with idiot fans but arrogance is unearned
#10 Utx - between entitlement and arrogance they turn a good school bad

FWIW, this is based on several factors

Academic fraud and the NCAA looks the other way
Cheating fraud and the NCAA looks the other way
Hypocrisy, fans say one thing but act the exact opposite
Sense of entitlement
Sense of arrogance
Sexual predators
Weird fans (an not in the good way)

My 3 favorite fan bases
Mississippi State - have always been nice and polite
Utah (not BYU) - just nice as nice can be and very thoughtful
Iowa State - never see them in large numbers but great to hang out with

I was at that game and I had a better experience with no trouble from OSU fans. Now the Oklahoma fans, prior to the NCG, were absolutely insufferable. Worst I have ever seen. Entitled attitude of the worst order. Watching them walk out of the super dome was an exhilarating experience!

Alabama is really the only one that I hate. For me it is the entitlement that their fans have, the fawning given to them by ESPN, the Louisiana recruits they have bought (pre-NIL) to come there, the consecutive #1 recruiting classes is so suspicious (no one is that much better at recruiting than everyone else. It’s clear there’s cheating that has been happening), and the fact that if they were not in our division we would have more National Championships.
I don’t hate any other SEC schools. I dislike Ole Miss, Texas AM, and Florida. But, those teams get in their own way so much that I can’t rise to the level of hate for them.

The best summary so can give is they acted like the hadn’t been there before.

I have a funny story about their pep band though. I was at the BCS tailgate stage watching the pep rally’s for each team. When OSU was done their band was trying to leave the back way which was right by the river. They apparently had it blocked off so they had to come back and walk through the crowd on the right side of the stage. At this point the LSU pep rally was about to start so the crowd was nothing but LSU.

The crowd was nice enough to let them through but all you could hear was “TIGER BAIT” as you saw them walk out. They legit looked scared shitless. That band director sure as hell didn’t read the directions for the days events!

Spurrier didn't spurn us. He wanted to go to UT but Neyland was still running an older offense that wouldn't make use of him. Ironically, he switched by the time Spurrier would've been eligible anyway.

quote:

Neyland died in 1962.

Spurrier wasn't even in college then.

Spurrier graduated from High School in 1963, so when he would have been recruited, would have been near the end of Bowden Wyatt's tenure at UT. Spurrier played his first game at UF in 1964. At UT during this span (between him being recruited as a HS Junior and playing as a college Sophomore), UT's HC situation was as follows:

1962 - Bowden Wyatt
1963 - Jim McDonald
1964 - Doug Dickey

That is why UT's offense evolved from a Wing-T to a pro-set by the time Spurrier was playing at Florida.

Had the internet been around in the spring of 1963, Wyatt getting canned would have broken it.

John Rocker. What an enormous douche.

Riling up the Met fans was Rocker's schtick. He loved it.
The national media would go bonkers when he did it. They brought in additional cops when he pitched in NY. I thought that was an indictment of their fans rather than an indictment of Rocker.

The article written by the guy in Sports illustrated was a hatchet job what was. Rocker managed to piss of everyone when that article was published.

He had one heck of a fastball.
