We did not hold up our part of the deal. An IB rematch in Atlanta would have been epic. We lost on the field, it is how the system works. Still go Tigers and Sooners.

If it is Bama vs UGA, Go Bama!!!

If it were about the best teams in the nation Auburn would be in the playoff instead of OU. Auburn would beat OU 8 of 10 meetings.

Why does AU have the most intelligent posters on the rant?

My disdain for Auburn has actually decreased over the last few years due to the overwhelming majority of their posters here being rational and intelligent people who are an asset to this board.

Convert third downs and significantly improve TOP. Our defense takes a beating having to play 40 of the 60 minutes.

Agree there.

I do think they need to tailor more to the strengths of Hurts.

If the offense can shift the TOP they can compete with any of the other teams.

Interesting that our hated rivals are for the most part taking a pragmatic approach and LSU fans are whining and melting.

Agree with others that Auburn has some of the best posters on the rant. I still hate everything about them and hope auburn loses every game every year, but none of that changes the beating they gave us this year and that they have same strong posters on tRant.

I originally thought downsizing LBs and safeties for speed was the issue. Having 57 second 3 and outs were the issue. We are not made to play fast. I also do not blame Hurts, he is who he is and mostly damn good. I might miss Lane a little though.

This is just an outsider's point of view, but I think the faster defense was a good move.

It just seems like Alabama is not fully committed to some of the changes Lane wanted in offensive philosophy.

In most games, I do not think it would matter. The Alabama defense and field position is enough to win in most games. But I would be nervous about playing Clemson.

Still, I can think of no other team that deserved the shot more than Alabama.

Sorry don't agree. Does anyone really think Bama is better than AU 9 days after getting dominated by that team? AU got punished for playing the hardest schedule in country plain and simple.

You stupid bastard. That's exactly what the committee was formed for...to select the best 4 teams for a playoff to determine the national champion...DAMN!

best thing is this will get the eight team playoff discussion in full swing. I know the current contract has to run its course but this will get it started in earnest.

I guess I just don't see how you can win the national championship if you don't win your own state, or conference division, let alone conference. Not winning your conference should be a disqualifier until we have an 8 team playoff.

I see the argument but how do you treat Notre Dame in such a scenario (and you know they won't be left out of the system)? Change the playoff eligibility requirements to "you must win your conference, OR you must be Notre Dame." That seems wildly arbitrary to give an exception to one school like that.

Alabama deserves to be in. No doubt. I’d like to see the playoff except expanded to 8-16 teams. You know like every other collegiate sport.

Saban made his case when the media asked him. Do you need an example of crying? See your post above. Jesus I will never understand how I grown man (if you are in fact one) would represent himself so poorly. Quite being such a pussy.

Yea, like I posted ad nauseum, neither side had a right to cry "screwjob" if they were left out. I'm glad we got in, but I realize we were the least ugly of the two.

Jesus Christ, I don't know why people want this shite. Why don't we just let everybody in? Then we don't have to watch the regular season.
