quote:If this is the case, then the main premise for a committee, being to select the BEST 4 teams to play for the championship, is destroyed. This isn't the 1st time that several top teams have come from the same conference, and it won't be the last. Hell, the fact that all the teams have a loss shows that even the best team can/will lose a game along the way. If that loss keeps a true top-4 team out of the playoffs, how is that fair?
I guess I just don't see how you can win the national championship if you don't win your own state, or conference division, let alone conference. Not winning your conference should be a disqualifier until we have an 8 team playoff.

Auburn fan bringing the truth, kudus
Is Bama looking like best team in Nation lately? Nope, but they're certainly are one of the top 4 teams this season, and Bama has the potential to be better than they've shown this year. Plus, when we consider the target on Bama back, week to week, it sure seems most teams, especially decent teams at home, bring their A+ game -vs- Bama. Seems Bama's opponents QB's have the game of the life too, when they do pull off a win verses Bama since Saban as arrived (Beating Bama can put a QB on the NFL's map, I'd prepare the best I could too). Sometimes, a team is just better than you that day, and Bama/Saban have felt this more than once during their awesome run, no one wins them all! Anyways, Bama will compete, their talent alone will keep them in most games while Saban is here, but until Bama realizes they've got a winning offensive strategy within #34 Harris, by giving him 15-20+ touches a game, Bama's odds are decreased against solid teams, like Clemson, Oklahoma, Georgia, Auburn, etc... who bring their A or A+ game verses Bama. If Bama changes their offensives identity, gets healthier at LB, and gets a few fortunate bounces, anything is possible. Gotta have the money within the pot, to win the purse. Bama's money is in the pot, and we'll see soon enough, if they've got the goods to pull it off.
Again, kudos OP/Auburn fan, not all fans are capable of honesty when having discussions about CFB. Oh yeah, I believe if Auburn didn't play a rivalry game that was draining ,physical, and emotional draining win against Bama the previous week, they'd put up a better effort in SEC title game. Auburn was playing as one of the best teams during November, and Auburn was peaking at right time. Auburn condition reminds me of Bama's game against Miss St. right after a physical battle against LSU. Bama's team barley had their legs under them verses Miss St. and playing -vs- a pumped up team like that, especaily on-the-road, makes for a tough challenge no matter the team. Georgia brought the wood in SEC title game, and deserve major kudos for all that, but Auburn being soften up didn't hurt Georgia's chances. The right timing within CFB has always been huge though, Georgia made the most of it. That's how ya win Championships...

Well I personally would as well but you know that won't get through, so here we are.

BCS would have had the exact same 4 in for the 4th year in a row

Yeah I mean no one watches the NFL season. You're talking about eight teams out of nearly 60 with a possibility to get in. Eight more teams at the end of the season that gets national attention rather than the four now that actually matter during bowl season. These other bowl games are already rendered meaningless. At least this creates four more meaningful bowl games.

Healthy Bama vs a nasty Clemson team is gonna be good.
Committee made the right call. Clemson would crush OSU

Bama over OU.
gumps have already proven that they cant beat a good QB. They would do better to face the dawgs in the natty.

Lanier stop sucking up to the Bammers. Have you watched Clemson play? No way Bama beats them, Bama hasn't beat a top 15 team all year.

Not saying OSU is better than Bama but I do remember when everyone said they were and then had to prove it.

I’d like to see the playoff except expanded to 8-16 teams. You know like every other collegiate sport.
No other sport has the risk of debilitating injuries to such a high degree every game.
You really want Kerryon to have to play this Saturday???

Bottom line...everyone in the SEC should be happy Bama is in because everyone is gonna make a much bigger pile of cash. Rising Tide lifts all boats.

Division 2 & 3 do it already.

Yes, this is the usual knee jerk response from people who don't know any better.
The FCS only plays an 11 game schedule that ended on November 18.
And they don't play conference championship games.
So when you say that the FBS can do it because the FCS does, you're advocating dropping one regular season game as well as the conference championships.

I'm sorry but a 2 loss team like OSU that got taken to the woodshed by fricking Iowa does not belong in the playoffs.
Posted on 12/4/17 at 12:00 pm to LanierSpots
The biggest reason why I think Bama is gonna win it all is because they will have had 5 weeks to heal up and get their linebackers back. The moment that happens, we will see the Bama we are used to seeing.

And Lanier, your Auburn brethren will not be pleased with this thread

Good point.
Maybe I should say that the author is classy, and not the post itself.
